Is anyone else pleasantly suprised at the style and standard off play at this level.
Clearly , we have a good side that gets crosses in and plays good football, some of the best since Curbs Murphy smertin and Bent.
But what has suprised me is we haven't seen too much long ball dross from any team.

    I think we were kind of expecting to play long ball teams with 11 men behind the ball, throwing themselves around and going into crunching tackles against our best players, or at least that was what was suggested on here, but I've not really seen that yet. No more than there was in the Championship anyway.

    Seeing as we have supposedly played the weakest teams in this league already, I must say I am pleasantly surprised with their attempts to play the ball on the ground. I was expecting a league full of stokies. Still we have yet to play spanners or pikies so I am expecting it from these incultured retard teams more.

    Southampton were the most physical so far and we coped very well.
    Leeds , Huddersfield, Millwall will offer a physical edge, but not long ball.IMHO

    Looking round the valley at the home games and seeing the crowds in the great stadium it doesnt really feel like the stereotypical "Grimsby on a wet Tuesday night" experience and some of the football we've played has be better than in the past two seasons. Only been to orient away so can imagine that carlisle away might bring a sense of reality but not noticed much difference (negative) this season.

    Once we get to November/December it might feel more like that. Do wonder how much bad weather might effect our football. Hopefully not too much.

    The difference isn't so much the style of football but the finesse. We've given teams chances that would have been taken by a lot of teams in the championship but in this league you can get away with a lot more.

    Teams seem to have:

    Bustling strong/pacy strikers who are liable to miss sitters or lightweight Bradley Allen types who are technically good but fairly lightweight and struggle to get into the game.

    Centre midfielders who are there to battle and don't seem particuarly creative.

    Defenders who are strong but liable to completely misjudge things and gift teams a goal.

    Am surprised at lack of long ball especially as we have mainly played sides that would be expected to be bottom half (Wycombe, Hartlepool, Walsall and even Orient) and expected them to play 4-5-1 and a big target man up top.
    Saying that Tranmere under Barnes are trying to introuduce a pass and move system and look at their results
