  • Sorry, can't make it, would like to go. Off to Dublin for the rest of the week.
  • Sorry i can't make it tonight but i think Dave Rudd will be there to represent the fans forum.
  • Love to be there, but..........................
    Hope all goes well.
  • Yes, I plan to be there.

The agenda looks back to front to me, though. Surely you need potential aims/objectives before you decide if you want a Trust or not?

You build a boat BECAUSE you want to sail across the sea. You don't build the boat, appoint a captain and a crew and then try to work out what you might do with it.

This kind of comment is exactly why I could not stomach attending one of these meetings. Fair play to all of you who sacrifice time and effort in doing all this and I'm sure it is for the benefit of the club and the fans. But sitting through one of these meetings would drive me barmy! What difference does it make what order the agenda is in?!
  • I don't think it really matters but I took the advice of Supporters' Direct on the order of the agenda.

That is why there is an Q & A at the beginning to look at what other Trusts have done and how they have gone about things.

If people think that having a legal entity which is democratic and accountable then they will vote for a Trust. The aims of the Trust can then to thrashed out in discussion tonight or in the future as more people get involved. They can be voted on and changed over time as the issues facing the Trust and Club change.

Anyway the people from Supporters' Direct will explain it much better than me.

why would the FF need representing ? The Trust and FF are independant of each other and have different aims imo.

With all due respect, you kind of miss my point. The reason that the order is important is based on the fact that you can't realistically vote whether to have a Trust when you aren't clear what the objectives are. I think that's why there were only 25 people there - at the outset nobody was quite sure what the purpose was, so why would people buy into it? But I suppose you can have the approach which says "Hey - let's have a group anyway. Who really cares why?". Doesn't usually last too long when you start out that way, in my experience.

Nevertheless it was a decent meeting and there is a proposed set of objectives which, if ratified by a wider group, will provide some distinction between what a Supporters' Trust is all about compared to the aims of the Supporters' Club and the aims of the Fans' Forum. These things can clearly be seen as complementing one another, provided the aims of each group are clear.

Now it's down to the energy of those who put their hands up at the meeting - and to the 1,000 or more of you who couldn't make it, but who are supportive of the objectives, whatever they finally prove to be.
  • i'll type up some rough minutes later in the week although they will be poor compared to Suzie's efforts.

The trust is on its way and so there ends my involvement.

I dont know all those who offered to be actiing officers but a good blend of youth and experience. There is still an open door for anyone else so dont hold back. Get involved.
  • Is it a bit worrying that only 25 people were there?
Is there enough drive or numbers to make this trust succeed.
Not criticising, as I wouldnt be able to give my time and energy into something like this, so fair play to all those that have/will.
  • Really good meeting last night, and for me the start of something really good, the numbers thing is bit of a red herring, I'll rather the trust grew slowly and developed rather then 200 people turning up and once the inital buzz goes the thing dies.

Also the weather last night didn't help numbers wise.

What supporters need is a body which is accountable to them, elected by them and isn't simply at the gift at the club, last night was the start, hopefully next month will see things develop even more,
  • so a few less than last months meeting. Shame. I couldnt make it unfortunately as had unexpected father duties to carry out.

Look forward to hearing about it.
  • You could only set broad objectives initially and independently representing the fans is good enough, thrashing out what the trust can do and what we want it to do is a huge topic area, so better to get the admin done earlier in my view.

  • I am quite interested to know how such things would be voted on however, in my view this needs to be as broadly accessible as possible to fans who can't attend meetings etc perhaps a membership and postal ballot or some such arrangement, or a register for a website voting system linked to membership - associated with a home address so not victim of fraudulent voting.

Put your name forward for the committee, then you'll be able to influence how they are voted on.

I simply can't spare the time to attend meetings right now, otherwise I would.

A useful meeting i thought. I would say that about 60 different people must have been to one or more meetings so far, and with another meeting soon there should be enough people with the skills/time/energy to drive this forward.

Having 7 or so people there last night who would stand for the interim committee was great to see.
  • Last nights meeting was another positive step, I'm not too down about the numbers attending at this stage. I had lost of people message me on Facebook and advise that although they may not be able to take an active part in the Trust such as coming to the various meetings etc they will join - particuarly as one of the main things which was discussed last night was having a low join up fee to encourage high numbers. At the end of the day we need 7 or 8 commited people to drive the Trust and a large base of members to give it legitimacy. I am very confident we will achieve both.
  • Still sounds to me like a load of anoraks poking their noes in where they're not wanted...........
