Kelly Youga's mazy run and shot.....

....that ended up hitting the foot of the post! Feck me, that was positively Mortimeresque from our mercurial Frenchman.

It was probably the most incisive piece of wing play I have seen from a Charlton player since "Dennis in the Last Minute".

Can anyone else remember anything better from a Charlton wide man recently?

Lloyd Sam was actually played in by Burton against Brentford and he had come into centre field to get the ball, although it was great skill to beat the last man.

Thomas against West Ham was the beneficiary of some awful defending from Calum Davenport, he would never have scored that against a competent full-back, Davenport practically showed him the way to goal.

I thought Youga's run was great, really good skill.

It was quality, would be good to see more of Youga in those positions, he looked handy on the right if midfield in his 5 min cameo v Ipswich in pre season.
I'm going to have one more go at great play from a 'wide man' recently: Varney v Saints in last minute 2007, he came on as a right mid went past his man brilliantly and put in a peach of a cross for Iwelumo

True about that Varney cross - and Reid a few days later at Bristol City - but I am thinking more about the kind of jinking, swerving runs that the Magic Man used to make when he was in his pomp rather than getting past on the outside and putting a cross in.

I remember Morts goal at Norwich in 1988 in that 3-1 win like it was yesterday!

He does it occasionally, real shame we didn't get a bit more luck. Would have been great seeing him score from open play just like it was when Semedo did.

He went on a run at the Bournemouth friendly, got a good photo the exact moment he somehow burst through the middle of two defenders...
