"They're no great shakes". That should motivate our lads. I always liked Perry, but think that his legs may be going a bit now and he was never the fastest. Perhaps this could be the game where Mcleod finally makes his mark in the last 15 minutes!
Poor old Perry, he was a quality player for us, if he's lying fair enough. But if he hasn't worked out that Pardew expects a defence to be thrown together without little semblance of getting three players - let alone four - to operate in a line he's gonna be shocked in their struggling months to come. Still over the last few years if there was anyone with game intelligence that could positionally manipulate the backine in game-time it is Perry, maybe Pardew'll luck out there shame they have mysterious Harding at fb who'll do fuck all.
Right first off this is the best team we've for the last two seasons. Yes we have weaknesses and sometimes we'll be found out but as we know we have the best midfield in the div. Whilst I'd lump Soton as one of the worst teams I've seen in the last few years, albeit Perry being one of their best/important players; along with Coventry and Derby, Pardew really went some to see us not being able to dominate teams like that last season. I want Soton to stay up, but I hope tomorrow they get a tonking for Pardew's sake.
Still did anyone recognise that Pardewesque 1% missing and then we win win win????? Never really happened did it?
Aahh bless him, I'm sure he means well by trying to gee up his ramshackle Southampton co-horts,but it is just posturing. In his heart he knows exactly how many poles apart his relegation threatened side actually are from us!
Wish Perry was still here. Every time I've seen him against us he's been the best defender on the pitch. It was no surprise that Mowbray who's moronic at chosing defensive players got rid. Why do some managers go the opposite way to how they played? Pardew refused to sign metronomic boring reliability, whilst Mowbray could never spot a defender/midfielder who's positionally sound and reliable?
Remember when Lita was utterly on fire against Perry running the most brilliant lines that our anemic midfield mainly missed, but when we did hit Lita Perry was there every time with a foot in or just putting pressure on.
The best £100,000 we ever spent. If every player was as professional as Chris Perry you would have a very strong team. Shame that's not the case at Southampton. Get into 'em lads!
