edited September 2009 in General Charlton
Phil Parkinson, Tim Breacker and Mark KInsella have agreed to do a Q&A evening at The Valley next Thursday.

This will be ticket-only so that we can control numbers and details of how to get tickets will appear on the OS tomorrow.

  • Really interesting this. Didn't think there would be any q&a's till the TO was done one way or the other.

Don't worry, I asked Airman Brown to put 50 aside for me so I'll see you alright for a couple ; - )

  • I requested the meeting as part of a discussion with the management last week. This either reveals that I am closely involved with the takeover or that the timing of the meeting has nothing to do with it. You can take your pick . . .

    What we thought all along.

Airman, i didn't know you were that rich? Can we expect Messi to be signing soon? ;0)
  • Should be good but means absolutely nothing IMO.

Get the board down there airman and then i'll be impressed.

    I don't think it is meant to "mean" anything : - )

It's just a Q & A with the playing management and the sort of thing that should be happening every month and all across SE London and Kent.

Just hope the iniative is kept going. I know Wendy and Rick are keen that it does but I think it would help if some people locally got involved and got meetings set up so the Club could send players, managers and directors along.

The club has to take some responsibility, in my opinion. It's not just for the fans to organise these things, because in the end they are about promoting the club.

I think the fact that people have been willing to organise is great and I hope it continues, but like coach travel to home matches it shouldn't just be left whether or not there is someone who will do it on a voluntary basis.

The football side also has to play its part, which frankly it hasn't always in the past.

I agree but fans shouldnt sit back and wait for the Club to do it all for them.

The Club should make more people available more often. Once people realise it is easy to get guests (which it hasn't always been in the past) then they would be more likely to come forward and organise venues etc.

And while it's great to have meetings at the Valley I don't think they should only be there.

This doesn't have to be an either/or proposition.

But you could ask why the Fanss' Forum weren't doing this and why Rick has taken the initiative here.

Unfair on the FF. The FF has been trying to have a meeting with the directors but it was postponed.

Rick, and this isn't having a go at him, isn't taking the "initiative". He's head of Club Development. It's his job. Wendy Perfect, who also works on Club Development rang me, as a Bronley Addicks committee member, to discuss these meetings and asking for Bromley's dates so guests could be arranged for us. That is how it should be IMHO, Club and fans working together to make these events happen.

Fans meeting and talking with players, coaches, directors etc helps build understanding on both sides of what concerns people, what annoys them and what they like. It builds trust and answers questions. Fans, and not just kids like to meet the players and hear from them. It builds a community and it builds a club.

Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now but it's something I feel passionate about.

Ok...so Rick is now only "doing his job", nevertheless well done to him on getting the coaching team to agree to a meeting even if he is only "doing his job", I'm sure if we win tomorrow then PP and team etc will only be "doing their job". Glad we sorted that out.

I'm quite sure that the FF could have arranged this, but didn't, presumably therefore they aren't doing their job?
  • Don't try that on me BFR, it doesn't work.

I never said Rick "was only doing his job". I said "it's his job" and prefaced that with the statement that "this is haven't a go at him". IMHO he is doing his job well in this instance as he has done in many others that I have had contact with.

Ditto PP. It's his job and he's doing it well.

You presume that the FF aren't doing their job. Your presumption is, IMHO, wrong.

BFR....Why didnt you ask the Fans Forum to arrange it then? They are there to represent the fans....youre a fan right?
About time you stopped sniping mate, its making your valid comments seemingly unworthy of reading...and I know youre actually a decent bloke.

Ooooh Listen to you BRF, I can see you now with you hard on in your hand so so excited about getting a response from me.

Trot out all the old cliches about Supporters' Director (how out of f****** date are you?) and cardies (that's actually I joke my friends make in case you hadn't noticed) but when you dig down and read what I said it is nothing at all like what you are trying so so desperately to make it out to be.

Of course I've already said that Rick is doing a good job and I'd already told Wendy what a good idea it is when she rang me to tell me what Rick and she were planning.

Now put it away before someone else sees you. It's not a pretty sight : - )

Oops it seems I've rattled Ben "I used to the Supporter's Director you know" Hayes's cage...

As I did you could simply have congratulted Rick for arranging this meeting, rather than dismissively suggested that he was doing his job, it wouldn't have cost you much, maybe your ego doesn't like meetings being arranged that you are no part of? Ask Rick nicely and maybe you can collect tickets on the door or something...

Equally it shouldn't have beyond the FF to suggest this meeting either...that has nothing to do wiith whether I perceive them to be doing a good or bad job, just quite simply they could and maybe should have thought of it. Your inference that I am suggesting the latter is as usual a staggering and cheap leap.

Either way, don't get your cardy in a twist...

BFR, are u as big a tosser in person as you are over the net? FFS, take a look at yourself fella.
