If the worst happens and

Bailey and Racon are unable to play on Saturday what would YOU do if you were Parky?

Would you pick, say, Basey and Spring as straight replacements and stick with the 4-5-1 or tinker some more and play 4-4-2?

My instinct is option 1 but I have concerns as to whether Basey or Spring are good enough to make it effective.

I would quite like to harness the pace of Izale or Waggy in some way but that may make us too lightweight.

Thoughts?

  • Go straight 442 JonJo for Racon Spring for Bailey

    Yep, that's what I'd do.
  • I might push waggy wide and drop Bailey into the middle, with basey coming into a defensive cover midfield role in front of llera and dailly. I believe Bailey has played in çentre mid before!

    Not if Bailey's injured

Probably something like that, though it's interesting that Spring has never played out wide, right or left, for us (though I could be wrong about that).

There's no one obvious to play on the left, guess it would have been McKenzie if he was fit. Wouldn't be surprised if it was Wagstaff, Basey isn't even a regular on the bench.

If Pardew was still here, maybe he'd have gone for something completely different, like Solly on the right, Sam on the left and Wagstaff behind Burton ;-)
  • Holden or Basey could play on the left, it might be a bit early for Holden to be played in a starting role though.
  • I'd stick with a 451 , the players know that system Basey on the lect and Spring in for Racon
  • Good point covered end, you have spotted the weakness in my and pardews plan.

    Wagstaff and basey for me!
  • Make as little change as possible. Therefore same system 4-5-1.
Wagstaff replaces Bailey and Spring replaces Racon.

However I reckon they will both play in any case.

agree. Those changes if needed but they wont be.
