The camera is a Canon EOS 400d, which was at the time I bought it the bottom of the Canon range of DSLRs (now superceded by the 450, the 500 and the even cheaper 1000). The lens is a Tamron 300mm; just about the cheapest of the long zooms.
It may have been superceded but it still takes a good picture. As a matter of interest, have you just got a very steady hand or do you rest the zoom on the napper of the bloke in front of you?

If ever you want to make a step up in quality have a look at this lense, my son has it and the zoom quality us amazing...
Canon EF-S 55-250 lense...
