Never Happy - It Beggars Belief

edited September 2009 in General Charlton
Have to share the conversation I was subjected to as I walked away from the ground with you all.......

Two Charlton fans discussing the game.

"Why are we still playing 4-5-1?"

"Cause that useless f**cker hasn't go a clue, got to be 4-4-2 at home"

"The subsitution of Sam shows how clueless Parkinson is, the sooner we get taken over and he is sacked the better"

"F**cking joke that Sodje is left on the bench and that Dailly is still in the team, he needs a rest, looked off the pace today"

"What is the point in signing 3 players and then not playing any of them?"

"No doubt we won't see MacKenzie until we are 3-0 down against Pardew......as soon as we play a good team like Norwich we'll get found out"

Crossed the road at that point. I know every team has its fair share of idiot supporters but these two were unreal.

If they were Statler & Wardoff aged I suppose I could understand it, these two looked in their 40's.
  • well I'll tell you now it wasn't me !!!

another great game and superb performances all round.

    2nd goal was a classic

Ridiculous. They really don't have a clue themselves if they really believe all that. Still fans out there that think Parky is a terrible manager.

Can't believe there are fans that still think we're playing a flat five in midfield 4-5-1. Even after playing good attacking football, 4-5-1 is still seen as negative.

If anything Shelvey is a striker in a free role, allowed to drop as deep as he wants, move out wide whenever he wants and generally do what he wants. Who do they want to see dropped? If we lost, they'd be saying why change a winning team.

Clearly don't realise Sodje and McKenzie aren't yet fit, and Holden is behind Wagstaff after his goal the other day. Why would anyone want them in the team when they've not done anything to win a place yet?

Realise there's no point in replying to what they're saying, but it really is ridiculous that we have fans moaning after 6 wins in 6.

Still, Parky will go on to prove them wrong.

20 passes according to reports on SSN......looked fantastic from the North Upper.
  • I came out of the Sam Bartram Terrace exit and mixed with the Brentford fans as they came out, lots of very complimentary comments about the team they had just witnessed beat their team !

They have a match summary thread on their main forum http://www.griffinpark.org/forums/ most of their fans reckon we were a class above.

I was sitting in the Lower West in line with the edge of the penalty area and it was absolutely terrific goal but the build up, well!...can't remember seeing anything like it at the valley for a few years. That midfield is truly exciting to watch..Semedo was brilliant Racon very close behind.

They seem like a decent bunch. One of them reckons we are the best League One team he has seen in a while.

Blimey, I thought we were good today, but that we played well within ourselves and had plenty more in the tank. I can't wait to see us play REALLY well - someone's gonna get a real spanking!
  •
[cite]Posted By: floydandharvey[/cite]To be fair to the two moaners talking in the opening post, we have had a fairly easy start to the season.

I'll reserve judgement on the quality of our squad until we've played a team above us in the league.
The squad can only play the teams put in front of them, 6-0-0 does not deserve the critiscism that those guys were apparently giving. Norwich, Leeds and Colchester away will be challenging, but even if we lose all 3 does that then mean that Parkie should be sacked or does it temper the expectations we have developed.

We are going to loose at somepoint this season. It will be interesting to see how we react to a defeat. Hopefully it will be a case of shrugging shoulders, brushing ourselves down and getting on with it.

Given the near hysteria on here after the Hereford defeat, I dread to think what will happen on here when the inevitible defeat does arrive!
  • Lets not forget that there were some who were predicting a relegation fight, this season. By the way, what is the points threshold for relegation in this league ... just in case!
  • great performance again, Brentofrd were the best team I have seen us play so far. I thought the whole back 4 were superb, daily and llera were superb for us when we were under pressure early on. Semedo was great he gets better and better. Sam and baily great, racon was good today as was jonjo. Loved jonjos lob that would have been a great goal. Burton was excellent too and Mcleod looked very dangerous when he came on, great finish for the disalowed goal.,
  • Lets just enjoy something that no Charlton fans have ever experienced before. 6 wins from the first 6 league games. Lets leave it to Parky to keep the players feet on the ground. From everything I have read from him so far, that is precisely what he is doing.

    Waheeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy - got one f&h!
  • I watched on TV today. My impression was that when we played the ball to feet we were excellent and like previous games I've seen it was a joy to watch and made be proud to be a Charlton supporter. However today we didn't kill off the game and if we were playing a better attacking team (Leeds, H'field) we might have been in trouble.

So whilst I'm happy, I could be happier!

Agree with a lot of the above however i think Leeds and Huddersfield wont put as many players behind the ball and will look to attack us not just hit us on the counter so we may well have more space to finish the game off

To be fair i have said narwich could be a big threat yet they drew 0-0 at home to Walsall who i thought were absolute shite and we beat them very comfortably alot of teams will come to us for the draw thats why i believe the Hartlepool and Tranmere , Leyton orient results were so good because they have to attack us as they are the home team

We are going to loose at somepoint this season.

what if and I know it's unlikely a thought we went the whole season unbeaten? It for me woulb be about as likely a thought as us winning 7 competative fixtures in a row all of which were quite comfortable!
