Considering some of the stick that Andy Gray came in for when he was looking for a move, i'll be interested to see what some have to say about Dickson's behaviour.
We should have put in a bid of a million for Jackson and then withdrawn it at the last minute and offered to take him on loan instead, see how he likes them apples.
He actually sounds more and more like Jordan everyday.
Can't blame him, tbh. He's been picked three times for Ghana, a team that got to the second round of the last World Cup, but can't get on the bench for a League One team.

He is more likely to get picked by Ghana playing and scoring for Charlton than for Gillingham, but he seems to feel that he has a divine right to be first choice and fails to do what is needed by the team to justify his place.
dont like him that much if he does the buisness on the pitch then ok but seems as though he as got the attitude problem of so many footballers that think they are better than they are .
What a to55er..............stop sulking, and fight for your place, he should think about what he was doing and where he was playing two years ago, if i was him i would also be worried about how much Scally valued me at, clearly he doesnt want him that much, if he did he would have paid the asking price
Really comes across more and more that he thinks he's a lot better than he is. Got a bit of pace, strength and skill, scores goals at the lower levels but very limited in most other areas of his game.
Parky said a while ago McLeod was working hard in training, wants to get close to the first team. Tuna has also impressed.
Yet Dickson seems more like he thinks he should have had a longer run by now, though not done much to show why he should have. Seen him a few times now, some games last season, a few friendlies, doesn't do enough for me, makes too many mistakes, and isn't the top quality finisher some make (or did) him out to be. Will score goals in the right team in League One and Two, but it means setting up a team that allows him to score goals and offer little else.
Obviously at a much higher level, but Darren Bent didn't just score goals, he closed down, worked hard, won headers and kept possession. I don't think there's been the improvement we hoped there would be in those areas of Dickson's game in the 2 1/2 years he's been here.
Useful sub for us at the most for me.
[cite]Posted By: WSS[/cite]But as long as he gee's the crowd up and flings his arms up and down on the pitch showing "passion" then that's cool.
Funny thing is he doesn't actually work that hard when the game is being played. Might show enthusiasm and passion, but he actually had to be told to close down by Kinsella in one of the games last season, and often doesn't bother closing down in other games either (not fit enough to do it? can't be bothered?).
[cite]Posted By: Addickted[/cite]I quite like the bloke - he has 'something' about him and would like to see him used more frequently.
Scally on the otherhand is a tosser.
I know what you mean, that's why I say he's a useful sub. Just don't see anything more coming from him. I can see improvements in players like Lloyd Sam, now doubt others like Elliot are slowly improving, but I don't see the progression in Dickson which just isn't helping him.
“I said to Chris I couldn’t see me selling that one to the board that in two weeks your value has gone from £35k to £50k – I can’t remember what it was – to nothing.
“He hasn’t been that bad in training in the last couple of weeks.
Never been a huge fan of Dickson and thought he was very over hyped but not sure what he has really done wrong in this instance.
Gills are being silly buggers but Chris just didn't seem to like the short term loan idea. Maybe with his failure at Crewe at the back of his mind he wanted a longer period to bed in and prove himself.
There could well be a lot more going on behind the scenes from both sides but can't really see the issue on Dickson here.
Would prefer if we loaned him to someone like Brighton or Orient TBH.

You're just giving fire to the opposite argument.
They got to the second round with other better strikers.
Their currently strikers are doing very nicely thank-you:
Team MP W D L GF GA Pts
Ghana Ghana 3 3 0 0 5 0 9
Mali 3 1 1 1 4 4 4
Benin Benin 3 1 0 2 2 4 3
Sudan Sudan 3 0 1 2 1 4 1
Time for Dickson to get real.
Parky is just brilliant. He's going to either sell him for a good fee or give him such a damn good lesson that he'll come out for us all guns blazing around Easter.

So why won't he go out on loan?
I have no more idea, than you. I'll have a couple of wild guesses, since this thread seems to be the place for it.
It could be that he wanted to fight for his place, here.
It could be that having seen the cluster that was our loan revolving door, last season, and thought that it wouldn't be great for his career.
Maybe he reckoned a 28 day loan, when he has no match fitness was completely pointless.
Seems odd that on one hand he's being criticised for not wanting to be with us then with barely a pause for breath he's criticised for not wanting to leave. Confusing.
[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Never been a huge fan of Dickson and thought he was very over hyped but not sure what he has really done wrong in this instance.
Maybe not, but with Tuna making the bench ahead of him, Fleetwood while he was here, it doesn't give the impression that he's working hard and improving enough in Parky's eyes.
I'd imagine he'd prefer Gillingham over most clubs after being there before, and them making it clear they want him back. I think with Burton, McKenzie, McLeod and Tuna ahead of him at the moment he'll end up taking up the option of going out on loan. He probably just wanted a permanent move so waited to see if we'd let it happen.

How is a 3 month loan deal not fair though? He was playing for Dulwich Hamlets before, not Chelsea. It appears like we've tried to be as flexible as possible with an unhappy player. gillingham's constant mentioning of one of our player's is scandalous and i'm dissappointed we haven't reorted them to the FA. Like others have said, i'd rather he went to any other club than see that w@nker scally saying that he got his man next week! To be honest, considering how light our squad is, i'd like him around just to make up the numbers but he wants out and i'm sure next week he'll get his wish.
Can't see anywhere in that article where Parky says that Dickson has thrown his toys out the pram and refused to train or has demanded a transfer so I can't really see why he is getting so much stick.
I don't know for sure any more than the next man ...... but reading between the lines, both from what Parky has said, and also separately Dickson, they've had plenty of shall we say, discussion:
Dicko: "I wanna play 1st team football, score the goals and show you how good I am. Am I gonna get the chance?"
Parky: "Sure. Show me you're really good enough"
Dicko: "You know already I'm good enough, or you wouldnt have me here".
Parky: "Sure. Roll up your sleeves and show me again"
Dicko: "I'm wasting my time here. I just wanna play. If you won't give me games, then I'll join a club that will."
Parky: "Sure. Or you can can stay here. Or go on loan, get some games, come back .... and we'll see."
Dicko: "I'm wasting my time here. I just wanna play. If you won't give me games, then I'll join a club that will."
Repeat ad infinitum .........
Don't miss next week's exciting instalment of this gripping soap opera.
Sounds like Dicko wants a bit of a stable run of first team football. Not 28 days, and not 3 months but with a recall option after 28 days. That's fair enough. It sounds like he's been unsettled by all the rumours and who can blame him, really? If he knows he's staying here and is a disruptive force, criticise him then, but it doesn't sound like he's causing problems at the moment.
When i opened this thread i thought it would all about laughing at gillingham for being such an amateurish joke of a club... i'm a little disappointed.

It probably would be, but 28 days is what is mentioned in the article. You should try reading it...

Sorry, don't get your point. He played for them last month. Not sure how many of the 5 goals in 3 games that they've scored came from their strikers and suspect that he is not good enough to be going to the World Cup, but can definitely understand why, being on the fringes of doing so, he'd be a bit frustrated. Surprised folk don't get that.

Attended a stage school in Dulwich. I'd have quite liked that kind of a ghetto life...[/quote]
He said in an interview he's from the ghetto.
Maybe the Italia Conti one?
