Brentford centre half problems

edited September 2009 in General Charlton
Just heard that Brentford have real problems in defence for their match with us on Saturday. Apparently their 3 first choice centre halves are either injured, suspended or called up for U21 international duty. A complete novice from Tonbridge Angels is apparently their only centre back left in the squad available to face us.

  • thats a goalless draw certainty then ;-)
  • They should never have let Turner go
  • or sodje
  • I smell a betting opportunity.
  • 4-3-3 - Burton, Shelvey and Dicko........ :o)
  • We'll still play 4-5-1 at home :-)

And I bet that we don't score more than two goals. Didn't go to the Walsall match coz I was on my holibobs but I gather they were atrocious and we should've had a hatful

And so we should if it's been working.

I'd read nothing into this at all. It's probably just to lull us into a false sense of security. Their normal centre backs will be back in time.
  • We have our own problems with Richardson a doubt for Saturday.

I'd put Bailey at RB, put Sam on the Left, Holden on the Right, Drop Semedo and go 442 with McKenzie and Burton up front.

Or maybe just put Solly on instead : - )

good plan to play both wingers on the wrong side are you Pardew?
  • it will confuse their full backs!

And why ask if I'm Pardew?

Do I go around calling you an arrogant tosser : - )

I know he's not played much at all but I think Solly will give us good cover for Richardson.

Anyone else a doubt? How's Semedo now?

Only seen Richardson as having a problem at the minute. I don't have a problem with Solly filling in but Parky will have to be prepared that he may not last the 90 mins. I'm sure by then we'll be 4-0 up and we can give Dickson a run at right back! ;0)
  • Chris Solly = Pocket sized Stuart Pearce FACT

I think they are covered. The Tonbridge guy Legge is quite useful, and they have Osbourne can play there or, bearing in mind Burton is no giant, O'Connor the captain has played there.

Quick - re-sign McCammon on an emergency loan :o)

  • I sit next to a very vocal Brentford fan at work and he is worried. He also said that Brentford don't perform well in front of the cameras. He thinks a 2-0 defeat will be a good result!

Didn't realise it was Leon Legge. He's played for clubs around Sussex. Someone I know told me a couple of years ago we had him on trial, played alongside I think Sam Sodje. Another one of Pardew's many non-league trialists.
  • Surely he'd play Youga at RB and Basey at left?
  • Legge got sent off a few times for Tonbridge last year, I believe. We really need to give him a hard time and stick to 4-5-1. Let's hope that we can keep the run going.

He rates Solly (as do many) and has been on the bench ahead of Basey, and with Solly naturally being a right back I'd expect him to play.

I get the feeling Richardson will probably make it like Semedo did last week anyway.
