U20 Worldcup - The Shelvmeister

edited September 2009 in General Charlton
Is there any possibility of us not allowing Jonjo to go to this?

I'm presuming he'll be one of the first names in the squad, and I think it'd be very harsh for us to stand in his way, even if we could... but we'll miss him more than the likes of Arsenal will miss Wiltshire. Also I'd assume that it'll take a lot out of him, shipping over to Africa, and there's the additional chance of injuries etc.

It's a tricky one. Would be interested in what others think.

He's already playing more games than is ideal really.

  • When is it?

Difficult to stand in his way, but also very difficult to lose him.
  • We'll have to cope, wouldn't want us to stop anyone playing for England.

Also he's got to have an eye on 2012 as well, east London lad playing in the Olympics would be good.

At 17, he's a bit too young to play in a World Cup just yet, I think. Much better for him to get experience in the third division ;-)
  • Although i dont want us to weaken the team i think for his developement it is vital that he should go and it will do him the world of good if he stays injury free whilst out there
  • And it will add a few million to his value when he leaves in Jan - smiley winky thing.
