Just seen a few confused, toothy. poshos with D-Locks around their necks on the TV going on about RBS investments and how they'd prevented them from trading for a day, which they plainly did not, due to the fact that the issue was not important enough for them to get there before 10, which really isn't going to beat a lot of city workers in. There are many better things that you can protest about RBS for, surely? And most of them wandered off mid-afternoon. Presumably the planet's saved now Jemima and Tarqin have done their bit.
I'd like to see the police penning them in again. The whining at the G20 was a real highlight of the day, for me. Oooh it's cold. Ooh I want water. Oooh the policeman that I've been throwing bricks at, hit me. Wah wah wah.
Come on scummers, if it's that important you can put up with it for a bit.
I consider myself quite left leaning, but I'm praying for the return of Thatcher after looking at them on the telly for 15 seconds.
[cite]Posted By: Goonerhater[/cite]communist--stalinest--marxest--trotski blah blah still gave it about being the comunist block , dont now give it they werent real comunists they were just naughty boys lol lol lol lol
if they where REAL communists every one would be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better state control total f**kin kak , end of. all real communists should be burnt and their ashes peed on.
Sadly, the problem is that in reality real communism doesn't work other than in the minds of people who are too privelidged to need to worry about bettering themselves. My experience of Cuba is that most people appreciate aspects of it, but absolutely hate the fact that they're prevented from leaving and not given resources that the sainted state is happy to allow us rich western tourists.
I always thought that the Soviet Union was just plain fascism under another guise. They extolled the virtues of 'socialism' whilst party members lived a champagne lifestyle. Any who questioned the status quo were sent to the gulag. There is a great book (for a number of reasons), called McMafia which documents the reasons for the explosion in international organised crime in the last 20 years. The biggest reason was the fall of 'communism' and that happened because all those countries basically went bankrupt due to massive corruption and politically inept management of their economies.
Oh and climate change is obviously a myth thought up by smelly hippies and other lefties to annoy people who like watching Top Gear. After all, what do climate experts such as the Met Office know?
How dare those hippies try and save us from global disaster. The bloody cheek.
But they're not saving us are they? They're just camped out on blackheath. In general all these sort of protesters are amazingly lazy. The main two methods of combatting global warming would probably involve the following:
Political pressure - this can be done by forming political parties, or by mass protest, or through lobbying. NOT by insignificantly small groups camping out and refusing to wash
Scientific progress - i.e the development of new technologies to lower our impact on the environment and/or fix the problems caused thus far.
Now both of those involve huge amounts of hardwork and/or cash. In general camping on blackheath is far easier, but isn't actually going to achieve anything.
The same could be said of the standstead protesters from a year or two ago. The way to fight an extra runway is by building a sound legal case and presenting it at the public enquiry. But that takes months, if not years of hard work, researching the relevant laws, getting peitions signed, producing reports, etc. whilst the cutting a fence and then standing on the run way achieves nothing and is simple laziness.
So to all these protesters, if you really care about the subject you are protesting about, get off your arses and out of your tents and try to do something constructive about it. But you'll find it is a lot of hard work, takes years of dedication and probably isn't as easy or fun and sitting in a tent. Just don't protest about a problem unless you are willing to everything humanly possible to try an resolve it.
[cite]Posted By: seth plum[/cite]If they have to try 'everything' possible, isn't the climate camp one aspect of everything?
I'd argue that the climate camp is actually counter-productive. Look at the title of this thread, whether you agree with it or not, a lot of people think that way, so the camp actually generates negative PR and therefore undermines any good work being achieved.
Well done GH, you nearly managed to spell some words right. Personally I think that dickheads that can't even get a basic grasp of the English language should be relegated to a non-voting role in our democracy. You should leave things to those more brainier & entitled than you...

And some spelling fascists need to be aware that some members of our society suffer from dyslexia and that you should be more tolerant towards them.

Or perhaps there is a spectrum from Politicians, Scientists, Technologists, Legal folk, Local councillors, Community Activists, Media who are all concerned with the climate problem, and doing some of the things you have mentioned, and the Climate Camp people are part of the whole effort rather than the only people concerned and trying. You have said they don't achieve anything, and alienate people, but they have sparked some kind of interest on this forum which wasn't there before...it's not achieving much you may say, but it is something.
Sorry MOG, I'm not really. I'd just like to see these pricks baton charged and she'd make sure that happened. Possibly before they'd actually done anything.

State control is not always cack. Railways and health service for starters.
Blimey. Not too many bleeding heart liberals on here.... We've pumped billions of years' worth of sequestered CO2 into the atmosphere in 100 years. CO2 is a greenhouse gas -- fact -- so it's not surprising that the climate's affected. Shouldn't we be doing something about this? People will starve and whole populations will be forced into migrating. It ain't going to be nice. Re state communism: when I visited the museum at Checkpoint Charlie, it struck me that if communism had lived up to its own dreams they'd have had to build a wall to keep people out. It was a manifest failure.

We've not even pumped as much CO2 into the atmosphere as that produced by Krakatoa in 1883.

Been reading Rush Limbaugh's book? Volcanic Co2 cannot reach the upper atmosphere unlike the Co2 we produce and as such does not have the same affects.

when one of the unwashed approached me outside RBS yesterday I suggested that instead of harrassing a passer-by she should go and get a job and do something useful. I was told to fuck off. Charming young lady.

Did you see any of the Cree people from Alberta Large? Where they unwashed as well?

What do people think of them joining the protest?
Think they were at the BP protest rather than the city one. They announced on the news that they were there and went over to talk to them - I thought, finally this should actually be interesting: what we got was some Canadian ginger scruff. I'd thought they would be ethnically native American, but no apparently gingers colonised America before Columbus. Maybe he was Cree like Jaime Oliver recently announced he was part black.
I love the way the socialistas are now claiming Russia was not communist but capitalist/fascist like the west. You were wrong about communism, you lost the war and you are now hanging your flags onto climatism. All very sad and very wrong again, but hey, when that is proved wrong and Rupert and ruprella have moved on from climate change to another worthy cause I am sure you will say the climate change protesters were really fascists and capitalists anyway. You lot make me laugh. I was a socialist when I was at school, being working class and going to a posh boys grammar, but I grew up on my own, without parents support and realised you get what you deserve in life. Who was it that said anyone who was not a socialist as a young man was without heart and a man who was still a socialist later in life was a fool? (I'm sure someone can give the correct quote) it rings as true today. The rag tag on the heath will disperse back to their parents estates and start to realise they are wrong and think about their future, some will not grow up and keep the red flag flying on internet forums, whilst living in the socialist utopia of their minds.

Thank you for the detailed scientific breakdown as to why climate change and global warming is all a fallacy.
Apparently it's because young people tend to be somewhat more progressive in their youth...
In the real world there is enough evidence that global warming is a reality, all backed up with peer approval from other scientists for it not to be in dispute, that and what we need to do about GW is what should be undee debate, not falling back on inarticulate rants about the people who are protesting about it and trying to raise consciousness. Congrats on making it to a grammar school though...
Peer review by ÜEA is like asking combat18 to review the policies of Adolf Hitler to see if they were correct. It will all come out in the wash, like Russia paying CND I suppose, but I doubt it will stop any immature minds from moving forward, again!
Anyway, I still prefer to call it global warming, can't for the life of me think why they have dropped this title. I am sure that renowned scientist and failed politician al gore is correct though.

So yes, basically.
