[cite]Posted By: Bournemouth Addick[/cite]Doesn'tanybodywant to know the answer to my question on the previous page?

    Here's a big clue...

    Shame on you Bournemouth!

The mantra of champagne socialists has always been don't do as I do do as I say.

I'm surprised you didn't know that!

    :-)

Where has anyone told you personally to stop flying?

I'm not going to cancel my holiday to Cape Town because like most of humanity I'm in some way selfish and self-involved. I personally don't think that I am in a position to make a difference in taking any sort of leadership or gesture on the issue, whether that be due to a naive failing of my character or actually pretty accurate.

None of this changes climate science. I understand air travel will have to be to some extent capped in the next decade and I will support and accept that when it is, rather than railing against it. I don't personally create proactive initiatives, but I will be reactive to those who do.

As an example, let's say there's some desperate need for a new hospital in some poor inner city area. Someone probably wouldn't voluntarily pay extra tax to fund the new hospital when no one else was, but if a new tax was brought in they would be content to pay if they believed it the right thing to do.

The country and our way of living will likely change. I'm not strong enough a person to be a pioneer of that change but I will accept it as necessary when it's comes about, and it is my hope that those who are currently 'sceptics' will do the same. For what it's worth, I always do the little things like recycling and walking everywhere, and my last flight was two years ago (to France). I don't pretend to be perfect, otherwise I'd live in a hut, but my position is a million miles from being openly resistant to environmental measures. I've accepted we need to change, and so far made some small adjustments, and that's a decent first step.

I think that's as honestly as I can express it.
  • [cite]Posted By: aliwibble[/cite]Len, you still haven't answeredmy questionfrom the previous page.

Sorry Ali but I wasn't totally sure what I was supposed to be answering.

BFR originally linked to the first site and I linked to the second in response to him if that was the question.
  • No, I was asking about which entry on the site you linked to was meant to be explaining the other reasons for the last decade being the warmest on record, as the most recent one when I looked (which I linked to) didn't.
  • Gooner
Your random wind-up nonsense still amuses, but really, I've checked the OU and they havent mentioned ''third world'' development in any of their course titles for two decades.

    ...........

Immigrant Hater did go to university - it was every Tuesday night to empty the bins.
  • Bournemouth Addick if you are wondering how I plan to travel to Germany and around Europe then it'll be using something called a train.
  • [cite]Posted By: smudge7946[/cite]Whatever happened to the hole in the ozone layer?
when I was a kid, it was the number one green issue, but its all gone quiet these days.
I didnt hear anything about it at the Copenhagen conference.

Is the hole still there? if so where is the hole and how big is it?
Or is everything tickety boo on the ozone front these days?

You could have gotten off your arse and googled the information, it's still there but shrinking due to fewer CFCs being used in manufacturing. Back when vested interests were fighting bans on CFCs we were subjected to exactly the same rhetoric that the deniers are using to prevent meaningful reform on climate change. And guess what, now that CFCs have been banned the world is still revolving. Another victory for common sense and good science, another defeat for self-interest groups who put polluting the atmosphere and making profits ahead of the common good.

Next week - despite what tobacco companies say, smoking is still bad for you.

Apologies for the poor quote but links don't work with BBCode.

Fllyod please check your facts better if you have checked the OU ask about D208 Third World World Developement and also what it has to link with for a diploma you will find its Environment . If its a tad diificult for you to actually look up a FACT i could also take said diploma (copy) of to Con Club ? happy to insert it somewhere you can actually read it ?

As for the project it was for the Mandarin Oriental hotal chain.

Maybe i also didnt live in the Third World for 3 years either ?
or didnt work for 4 years for ExxonMobil , happy to bring both business cards or pay slips
of course maybe i wasnt in Qatar last year either ?

you see when faced with someone who actually has experience you Left Wing twonks close your eyes / hands over ears and scream ,lier/racist etc etc etc. Shame really then i can prove every one ofthe above .

over to you ----------retract your implied calling of me a lier or meet me to be proved wrong ?

I'm not getting involved in this particular tangent, but considering you studied at university level goonerhater I imagine you didn't write in such a style. Respectfully, is there any way you could do us the courtesy of streamlining what you write a bit? Your points will be a little clearer if they're aren't so many random strings of dashes or line spaces, plus everything seemingly having to be phrased in a sarcastic rhetorical question.

I'm not being pedantic for the sake of it, it's just I find your posts often genuinely difficult to follow.
  • it was the OU sussex and one of the summer schools was in sussex Uni in the downs. another funnily enough was in the Uni of East Anglia the home of the climate change mafia ! great library---but on the other hand maybe i made that up as well?

sarcaism is just and age thing and being told that you must be wrong if you dont read the Guardian or be a socialist. Still im happy in the knowledge that for some one who cant spell , read or write , i have managed to keep the odd loaf coming into the household.

When i left ExxonMobil i said at my leaving do" always have an opinion, never be afraid to voice it or be proved wrong. If you have no voice then you become either a corperate parrot or nothing" -------------- Surely the Climate change very clever people will see that to question is a cornor stone of all science ? if you dont ask why or how or what if then what are you ?

said all the way through this debate i see "agenda setters" working, not just on one course but many. No conspiracy just the usual World politics. For me its not about climate it about the Worlds resourses and population.

It's official goonerhater is not stupid, he just can't write a sentence in the English language.
  • that may actually be the only true thing you have ever said.

[cite]Posted By: BlackForestReds[/cite]Bournemouth Addick if you are wondering how I plan to travel to Germany and around Europe then it'll be using something called a train.

Great for you, I expect that this'll be one of those "magic trains" that has an onboard perpetual motion machine for an engine and in fact will probably take carbon out of the atmosphere as you go. Fortunately all the WW1 battlefield sites you're interested in visiting are conveniently located within walking distance of main line stations in major cities too eh? Otherwise it might be a bit of struggle to get out to the middle of nowhere the countryside without a car.

All I'm saying is that if you're going to adopt a "holier than though attitude" about an issue you make sure you're own house is in order first. Your's clearly is, what with this train business, so silly me for thinking that you might actually fly to Eastern Europe or drive a car at some stage. I apologise of course.
  • Thanks for your answers black forest reds and charltonkeston.
  • GH
    Calm down, just asking!
As for checking facts, I remain usless = Still no joy, even when spelt correctly
    D20-8 is a teaching course.
http://www3.open.ac.uk/study/atoz/allcourses.htm, and previous lists also draw blanks.
The ''Third World'' moniker appears to have long since been replaced by more acceptable ELDC or LEDC nomenclature.

What makes you think I am left wing,by the way?

so if you are going on holiday, your views on climate change are not valid in this thread? i don't see any holier than thou comments, just a load of people saying how they see it and a few more who don't agree and are trying to divert threads away from the central issues with all sorts of weird shit

I do drive a car - but one that runs on LPG.

I also use fossil fuel - I have two gas and electicity bills sat on my desk for paying and I don't deny that I use fossil fuel, so I'm not quite sure why you need to play some childish game of gotcha.

Or are you as thick as goonerhater?
  • [cite]Posted By: Goonerhater[/cite]that may actually be the only true thing you have ever said.

    I was being ironic.

I've seen five year olds with a better grasp of the English language than you and furthermore they appear to be able to better able to construct a coherent argument, so quite how you managed a degree is something I'll leave to others to work out. It seems that your subject didn't exist so maybe Walter Mitty was your course tutor.

Don't sit on the fence BFR...

Tbh personal attacks will just lead to another page of 'THAT's what gets me about warmists, they attack anyone who has a different opinion' as if you and GH's skirmish is licence to ignore all the very good posts that there are on this thread.

Anyone thinking of padding out their posts with more 'victim' rhetoric, I'll make you a deal: I'll ignore that GH calls anyone vaguely disagreeing with him a 'Guardianista' and 'twonk' or whatever else if you don't fixate on such matters yourself, as they just distract from whatever decent debate there is left in this thread.
  • [cite]Posted By: smudge7946[/cite]Thanks for your answers black forest reds and charltonkeston.

Thats OK, thought I'd give the short answer as its a football forum and place to have a chat with other Charlton fans not a place to score "I'm clever points".

    Keep that irony coming BFR...
  • thing is i can prove what i have done and where i have been BFR you on the other hand still gob off behind your key board with nothing at all to back your super IQ other than sit/shit in your yfronts day in day out in front of the WWW you have been nowhere and done f**k all. Strange how when you so clearly ALWAYS loose the arguement that you result in your usual insults re spelling etc etc etc etc . Surely if you have a much better grasp of the language etc you would be able to win an agruement with one such as me a clear numb skull ? i think the reason you result to your petty insults thrown at me is the fact that you realise that not only have i actually lived a life , that i have proved myself by geting quailified (inmy own time), that i have paid for my house before i was 50, that i own my own company, etcetc etc. You on the otherhand just have cyber girl friend who is probably a 16stone guy called burt from Hull.

you a pup with totaly no spine.
  • I love this thread.
  • Sure it's not a 16stone guy called Stu from Hull?
  • Flyod the course reg numbers were D 208 and D206 may well be numbered slighlty differant now but if you look under the sections "diplomas" you will find them. They where there last year as i had a query re ongoing idea i have and looked to se ifthey could count (points wise) to another course etc.

Just for yours and my cyber stalker BFRs gob i will take a copy etc to the Tranmere game and im sure someone who will be there above all this and totaly trustworthy will verify.
  • I'm not sure whether to be embaressed at the cringey bravado you'd expect to find on a Millwall forum, or be amused by how panto this BFR V GH thing has become
  • so come on Sussex ? how do you expect me to respond when i try to make light of the insult on line 383 and me comes back with worse a few lines later ?

I have siad that im happy to prove the issues the Flyod said earlier ? not sure what the f**k it has to do with some cyber stalker siting in his yfronts , maybe Burt never responded on the chat line when BFR asked him "what are you wearing tonight ?" and his a tad niffed off.

No idea mate, kiss and make up?

I guess you could just ignore it. If you just see BFR as a keyboard warrior, just ignore it and don't get too riled when he's being a bit of a wind up merchant
  • BFR and I find ourselves at the opposite end of the specrum quite frequently but I respect the fact that he is an intelligent guy and has thought about his views even if I disagree with them.

That is why it is such a shame he so frequently resorts to the personal stuff and gets AFKA's trigger finger twitching. He has the ability to be bigger than that.

As for Goonerhater he has told us before of his dyslexia and a symptom of dyslexia is that messages can sometimes come out reading strangely. It does NOT mean a lack of intelligence and frankly nitpicking over his spelling etc is a lazy response in my opinion. Address the thrust of his arguments not the finer points of literary style. This isn't the Oxford Union after all!
