He's in the same situation as before. He's desperate to play but has slipped further down the order now below McLeod and Fleetwood . I hoped he'd get more of a chance in this league, especially after scoring well in pre season. Theres no guarantee that Jackson will score more goals.

He seems to have slipped behind Tuna as well, who was preferred to Dickson on the bench. I think he'll be gone this week.

Because he acts like a cock............allegedly :-)
An amiable joker, I really like the guy but I have honestly never seen anything that has convinced me that he's willing to work hard and fight for his place. Maybe he will learn, I hope so and I hope he does well, but it just hasn't worked out for us.
[cite]Posted By: Dazzler21[/cite]we should try switching dicko and burton at 80 mins over the next couple of games
This is something I would have liked to have seen. Dicko is not an all-round forward but, after Burton, he's the striker most suited to playing lone frontman that we have and, with his pace and direct running, he'd surely be a handful for tiring legs - especially when those legs are attached to carthorse League 1 defenders. I certainly think he's the second best striker currently at the club, but then there's not a great deal of competition.
I had highish hopes for Dickson this season and would be a bit dissappointed to see him leave without making an appearance (if that happens) but, as I've said about other players like Moots, if the manager doesn't like him and/or his attitude isn't good enough then lets get rid for the good of both parties, even if it's to a rival. We're not rich enough to be signing/keeping players just so others can't have them (a la Chelsea).
Dickson has credentials as a goal scorer at this level, and I certainly see him as an impact player for us off the bench. I don't however see him playing as the lone front man, from what I have seen, his 1st touch and hold up play is poor and I have yet to see him put in anything near the teamwork and work rate that Burton does. That said, if Burton were to be injured it is questionable if we have anyone who could take the lone striker role.

Agree with that and they're the weaknesses in his game that stand out to me as well. And I'd definitely say Burton is the only one that can play as a loan striker.
I think Parky has done an alright job with the squad so far and the fact that Dickson hasn't made it onto the bench yet suggests to me that Parky doesn't rate Dickson and i'm happy to go along with that. I wouldn't like Dickson to go to the gills but if he did score goals there they could actually end up being beneficial for us as i can't see them challenging for promotion, and goals against our rivals could be helpful. If he's not in the picture then we may as well get rid.
To my mind, Dickson is far more suited to playing off our target man forward (Burton) in a conventional 4-4-2.
But we don't really play that way at the moment - so unless he replaced Jonjo, there's no room in the team for him tactically.
That doesn't necessarily mean Dicko is a bad player, just there's lack of opportunity for him at present.
And Dicko's obviously frustrated and impatient with that.
i think Dicko is a top guy and could be a good goalscorer in every division outside of the prem if given the chance, but do i think that he could play in the system we are currently playing No i dont, is he a better player than Deon in this division No i dont think he is either.
I dont really care what or who plays as long as we dont give the ball away cheaply and put 110% effort in when we do lose the ball until dicko gets the chance to show that he is able to do that then he wont get in and that is not Dickos game and therefore i dont think he will get in and nor does he

I think they are the biggest problems, like you say it's not his game. He has that enthusiasm that fans like but he doesn't put in enough effort when it comes to closing down and that side of the game, something Burton does and in the past Iwelumo, Varney and Darren Bent did. He makes basic mistakes, doesn't have a good touch or keep possession well.
If we had a big Iwelumo style player up front, and played a long ball game, Dickson would probably do pretty well. We don't have that big striker though, and Dickson isn't that good that one of the midfielders should be replaced by him.
As for Jackson I can't see us getting him, more likely we'll be signing Leon McKenzie (or similar) and letting Dickson go. We need an alternative to Burton, rather than at the moment in which we have 3 quick strikers in McLeod, Dickson and Fleetwood (plus Tuna), so if we can get that back up for Burton in, I think we'll allow Dickson to go.
No doubt Dickson will then score a few goals, giving us something to moan about, but like I said he'll suit Gillingham more than he would us. With them being a smaller club in this division he'll get a lot more room in behind defences, just as Bent did for us, but didn't get at Spurs.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about Jackson as i think we were just trying to get as big a price as possible for Dicko.
