Tomorrow and The Crowd

edited August 2009 in General Charlton
The last couple of years have been hard work supporting Charlton, however I have got the buzz back I think in part due to the team looking like they are a team, the manager looks in control and obviously 3 wins on the spin helps. I dont care what league we are in, my Charlton are coming home.
With the winning mentality now around the club I think its time to get behind the team at home non stop. I know at Orient is was a great atmosphere, lets replicate that at The Valley. The Upper North, its your responsbility (always was, always will be, remember The Covered End) to get things going from the off, or preferably before. Noise, drums, singing, passion, all match, not in parts, the rest of the stadium will take your lead, so if you are one of the Upper Norf get yerself verbally warmed up and make some noise, us in the NW Quadrant will do our bit as I am sure will the Lower North, The West and maybe even The East, but it starts with you Upper Norf lot, don't let us down.

Cheers and looking forward to tomorrow more than I have been for years.

  • Good innit....
  • The fans have had bugger all to get excited about since our start to Curbs final season.

If the team start winning the fans will come & give them the support they deserve, unfortunately it's been all one way last few years, blind faith by the fans & nothing from the team. If we carry on winning can see our away support improve dramatically & even topping 20k at home games.

you never know but it will improve for 5 minutes ,probably, still it can hardly get worse .... if we win the title we might bring more than the 1100 who witnessed us become champions at blackburn

    Err, 800 at best!
  • we away tomorrow as im sure will be plenty of others. I dont think you'll see the real numbers until September.
  • Me and 3 people i go with were away last week.
  • Well if your only prepared to support us with your full passion if we are winning then you prob sould be a Man u fan. Were i come from you dont support a club because they are good you support them cos of family ties or its you local team i dont care what league we are in or if we are bottom or top i will still show 100% support to my club every week. Fickle fans are not what a club in crisis needs.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but if you feel passionatly about charlton as i do you should be ther week in wek out win loose or draw.
  • you must be a bit of a glutton then rupert.
  • OK I'll pitch in....if we are building an atmosphere just before the teams come out/kick off lets hope it isn't crushed and drowned by stuff over the tannoy, lets hope the PA folk can read the mood and respond in an artful manner to what is happening.....mind you a bit of led zep will go down well with me, played at the right time....oh and the whole of the second verse of RRR please.

Would be a fair comment however i was just tought to follow and stand up for you club no matter how much in the shite we are wen in the prem we inherited loads of family fans which was great for revenue at the time however were are they now?

I feel they only wanted to come to the Valley because they could see Man u, Aresenal, Liverpool (big clubs at the time) play football for cheap and for these people i dont think it was aboout Charlton atall.

If you fancy a prwan sandwich out look to football then go to Man u were u will be told to sit down and stop swaring. But if you want to meet a real good solid community of supporters sit with us in J block Covered end.

My and my mates have been going for every week win loos or draw it makes no difference as its Chalton and i luv them.

Does Chalton til i die mean nothing anymore?

  • rupert i think you're wasting your breath mate... or wrists.
  • I think this is what we probably expected two years ago, but we thought we had a decent manager - oops! So it's taken another drop and another manager to revitalise us but at least now it is great to have some momentum and feel like we are on the up again.

Well taking 600 away to QPR in the Championship whilst on a poor run & 3,000 to Orient in league One when we had Won a couple proves my point does it not ? We must have a load of glory boy supporters then ?

I think you are right mate just feel its not the way to support a football club. If you support a team just cos they win thats shocking does the Loyal supporters chant we did at the Wycombe game mean nufing.

Also Ketman i was at QPR last season despite the loss was a good day out i enjoyed that one.
  • Yes QPR was a laugh, but I am finding it difficult to explain where the other 2,400 fans were that night when we actually needed them ?

I remember I was at home. Didn't miss many last season but that was one of them.
  • It stands to reason that more people will pay to go and see a winning side. Plus over the years we've had some shocking performances at Loftus rd, both against QPR and when Fulham were playing there as well.
  • Ok QPR aside at the end of the day i was born and brought up in the area therefore when ever i go to the Valley or Charlton Away games i am representing the area i am from i am more proud of that than any resault. I dont understand y people want to go to football for an image. If you only want to follow a team because they win then you clearly were not born with football in your blood and only want to turn up because you've watched that twat danny dyer talk about it like its world war 3 on the terreces ( Load of rubbish).

  • Exactally P_Air hes an utter bellend that still lives in the 70s or wishes he did.
  • HAHAHAHA were the fudge did we find this vid well timed hilarious.
  • im sure ru is a wind up. almost positive.
  • Na im really not i know you would like to believe it but honestly it just get right hacked off with people turning up 2 charlton once a season when we might win with their copptcat of the hoolie films and that. I feel so passionatly aboout my club that i hate to see fickle supporters there who only turn up wen we win and then when we go on a bad streak none of them are prepared to go. That attitude should have no place in Charlton. Wouldnt see a club like Oldham for example having that.
