Kevin Lisbie for Norwich?

edited August 2009 in General Charlton
I know some on here will idiotically holler on about 'I couldn't give a f**k he ain't a CAFC player', but I quite like Lisbie and want to see him do well. What's the chances of Lambert going in for him now he's gone to Norwich? It's the perfect club for him, I thought he'd always fail at Ipswich because they don't create enough chances and the pressures to high.

Norwich always have been an attack minded team and he'd do well for them in this div. Whatever the stupid two club registration rule I hope it happens for him or at least he has a very good season this year.

On another note it's a real shame we missed out on Johnnie Jackson as he could sort out our midfields desire to dissapear into defence for one half out of two.

Are we still trying to get his brother from the Jills?

We'll probably end up with Colin...

Not sure if Norwich is the perfect club for him. You say there was pressure on him at Ipswich, well there would surely be even more pressure on him to produce at this level plus being an ex-Ipswich player, the fans would be on his back almost immediately if he went a few games without scoring.
Norwich have Grant Holt who knows where the goal is and i like the look of that McDonald they got from Dartford as well. I think it's the other end that Norwich have problems.
  • He's already on loan at Colchester and I'm sure they're already annoyed about losing their manager, nevermind the striker they're hoping will score the goals they need.
  • Whilst he is still an Ipswich player, he has played for Norwich before. So, if he did follow Lambert, his past tenure may may soften the Ipswich connection for the Canaries fans.
  • I think he's on a season long loan to Colchester, so it would depend if there is a recall arrangement or a deal whereby Ipswich can sell him.
  • I believe SuperKev has a lot of affection for Colchester. Despite being relegated with them, he helped himself to 17 goals, including 2 against a former club (!) - effectively found his feet and actually valued by their support.

I've no idea what the loan rules would be if Lambert came in for him.
  • I believe he's there for a season and colchester have first option to but him at an already agreed price. Normally with these kind of deals there's no recall option as the parent club take it as a given he's already gone, but obv without knowing specifics I can't confirm....
  • Didn't Colchester flog our mate Kev a year ago to Ipswich for a reported £600k ..... ?

So Ipswich will be bound to try and get back some of their outlay.

But they won't want to sell to their hated rivals Norwich, will they?
Or is that only a supporters thing?

Or does business talk (as we've seen with our close working relationship with our joyful friends from Croyden)?

I think he did go for £600k but presumably that included a few add-ons - for promotion to the Prem etc. As Norwich are in a different division to Ipswich I wouldn't have thought that the competition thing would be a factor, money talks and Lisbie only spent one season at Ipswich and he under-achieved so I doubt that the fans would give a toss.

Plus another goal at their place Oggy.
3 in the season against us.
  • ha ha Mr oneLung.

He might have scored 2 agaist us once, but he didn't manage it last year.

Have no fear, he's not known as SuperKev for nothing

    :o)
  • I think the rule is that a player can only return to a loaning club if both partys agree or if another club offers to actually buy him

I think he'd defo have done a job for us in this division and despite the past surely no-one can disagree with that
  • Just seen him set up one and score another. Looks a class act at this level.

Can't believe I just said that!

At this level with support on and off the pitch he'll score goals. With us he flattered to deceive, went to Colchester, had a point to prove, scored loads of goals and was the main man, went to Ipswich where he was under pressure and one of several strikers and he struggled. I think he'll do well at this level and he'll prefer to be a big fish in a little pond than try and push himself at CCC level or in a bigger squad.
  • If you watch Colchester last night he has time on the ball to see whats around him and sts up his strike partner. That time you dont get in the Prem or Championship.
  • Would anyone have picked Lisbie ahead of Burton for any of our first three games this season?
  • No, but I'd be interested to see them playing alongside each other.
