Will it be likely that a swap deal and a fee will bring Simmmmeeeoooooo to Charlton and i think most will agree a proven goalscorer is just what we need at the moment
[quote][cite]Posted By: deanovski[/cite]tsk tsk always copying pardew , ;] I kid there rumours linking this player with alot of teams including us, a sheffield team and the foxes.[/quote]
Were you kicked off all the Southampton sites or something as you seem to love posting on this one!
[cite]Posted By: Ketman[/cite]A very over rated player, a couple of good games & Scally will be having us all believe he's worth a fortune which he ain't !
If we signed him I would worry he's another McLeod. While at MK Dons he looked good, here he's shown he's limited and pretty one-dimensional, and I think struggling with the pressure at a bigger club.
I think we might well be better off with a more all round striker than one with loads of pace. We've got another two strikers in Dickson and Fleetwood who are all similar players. They all need a team built around them, so they can just run onto through balls and play with freedom, setting up the team to cope with the mistakes they'll make. It's part of the reason Dickson didn't start for a long time, he doesn't have a great work rate or help keep possession well.

Fair enough but he'll be playing at or closer to the level he's been playing at. McLeod was stepping up a couple of levels - perhaps one too many.
[cite]Posted By: kinveachyaddick[/cite]have to admit I don't know anything about the bloke but he scored a hat-trick in this league last week so not sure why he's being knocked on here?
can we honestly say that any of our motley crew would be capable of that?
I'm not knocking him, I don't know enough about him, and obviously being a league lower than the last two seasons helps, but all our strikers have decent, some excellent, goalscoring records at other clubs. Even Burton had a few decent seasons when it came to goalscoring with clubs in this league.
I'm just wary of assuming he's a lot better than what we have based on scoring goals in League Two, a hat trick last week (and one in the cup was it?) in a team built around him when we've signed strikers with similarly good records and they've failed.
That said unless we're taken over AND are given a few million to spend, I doubt we'll sign him anyway.
Good buy in my opinion. Really good goalscoring record and seems ready to step up to a bigger club. Suppose we'll just have to wait and see if firstly it goes ahead and secondly weather he does a job.

Exactly what I think. As a swap for Dickson I'd be happy but as for spending anything over 100k for the guy I wouldnt be too happy!
I'll second Oakster on his comment...I was thinking the same, but hadn't a clue whether the club's had a Canadian player before. Men's National Team world ranking notwithstanding, there are actually a few decent players from over this way!
We actually had a kid from right here in Alberta on trial last November, but he ended up signing for Ipswich Town & is part of their Academy squad - Caolan Lavery.
National sports network here (on "Soccer Saturday") just ran a feature on Jackson...said he's a real "up and comer" and mentioned us as being me of a few clubs (I think they also mentioned Leicester and Ipswich?) in the frame for him, but sounds as though we'd better hurry as evidently the "bigger clubs" are well aware of him.

He said "bigger clubs"
;o)
Oooh, get you lol.
Is he any good? not seen anything of him * presuming he is the one who got the hat-trick for Gills in their 5-0 the other week? *
He seems to be ok at lower league level and i believe Villa were interested in him after he scored against them in the FA Cup last season, but let's be honest if Darren Bent can't get in your team then this guy has no chance.

Like for like. And the transfer valuation is similar, lol
And we get to keep our current Ghana international.
;o)
Mind you perhaps he could also sort out the pot hole problems so we could save some money that way
"Are you Golfie in disguise?"

Totally agree with you there.
