Norfolk Broads

Me and the kids (and the bloody wife!) are off to the broads for a week on Friday.

The weather will probably be crap, I'll have to do everything invovling the boat, well supported by a 5 and 7 year old (not the wife) and we won't be able to move in the boat because one of us will have 21 outfits for a 7 day boat holiday in Norfolk, not forgetting the outfits the kids will ahve that they don't need or won't or are likely to wear (you may have sensed a theme here!)

Amyway, any suggestions, recommendations (not divorce, it would upset the kids) good places to take the kids, eat, drink, tie up for the night etc etc

  • We had a great time boating on the broads about 3 years ago.

Where are you starting out from? I'll trawl the old memory bank and see what I can dredge up.
  • Give Soundas a whisper/shout...........he was on the Broads recently.
  • Cant remember any place names unfortunately, but did much the same as you many years ago....probably one of the most outstanding family holidays we ever had to be fair.....wasnt looking forward to it, but we had a terrific time to be honest....steered clear of the official moorings and did our own thing in the main. I'd love to do it again when I get the chance.
  • Wroxhams nice.Got a place called wroxham barns where you can take the kids.it's free and will keep them quiet for a good few of hours.

The bridge inn at Acle is a good place to moor up for the night if you can get a space.Nice food and a few things for the kids in the garden.
  • Thanks

Not sure where we're leaving from (maybe Potter Heigham), the Bridge Inn sounds good
  • Thought this was going to be a thread about yokel slags.

    *leaves thread*
  • Park it by a riverside pub for the week! If you must go sailing don't go near Great Yarmouth- life gets very complicated with tides and nautical stuff like that. You wouldn't want the Missus to drift out to sea, would you?
  • Bloody good idea, Grerat Yarmouth it is

Ermmmmm I was on a canal barge in Warwickshire .....close but no cigar!

    Pay attention P!
  • I just come back from Great Yarmouth last week...

The weather was great, the locals are friendly, beer was nice, plenty of places to eat....

Plenty of things to do and some great places to go and see, try visiting the Norfolk tourist site...

Its "norf" of the Thames innit ?
  • Went to Cromer weekend before the one just gone...plagued by zillions and zillions of ladybirds, but as soon as you go inland its great, had a pint in a pub on a 'broad', lovely actually, watching a family of swans...Oh, and saw the 'Seaside Special' summer show on the end of Cromer pier. The following evening was on the pier again, and lounging out of the back door of the theatre I saw Elvis having a sneaky fag.
