The worst sports injury I ever saw (up close) was when a guy In my team dislocated his knee cap; it swivelled round his leg to the side. I've never seen a grown man scream like a baby like that before. When the ambulance men came though one of them just flicked it back into place.

I played cricket against a guy once who, facing one particularly inoffensive delivery, played a nice little cover drive. There were two noises, however: one was the ball smacking against the face of the bat; the other was his ahilles ripping apart. As he fell to the floor, he shouted "who just shot me?"
It ended up ok though, because, after he was loaded into the ambulance and driven off, the game recommenced and we won.
