Just goes to show what fans can do when they get organised and set up a Trust. Even when the board ignore them they can bring pressure to bear, lobby politicians and try and influence the future of their club
And hopefully there will be some supporters from every club in the country, that will have put their name to the petition. That's the power of harnessing public awareness.
Incidently, Cae Ras ....... cheeky question time:
How many Wrexham fans have signed the petition .....?
Thanks Everyone, Mike - thanks for your help! PaddyP17 - thats brilliant - we also have a facebook page here - just 565 on there but its building all the time http://www.facebook.com/pages/Protect-The-Racecourse/130443044457?v=wall&viewas=515309422&ref=ss
Oggy Red - we estimate we have 3,000 wrexham fans and 3,500 from fans of other clubs or not even football fans but who support the cause of protecting history. It is difficult to be accurate as not all comment who they support or supply their postcode !
Thanks to the Addicks who have backed us so emphatically...
Thanks for your support everyone! Charlton fans have been brilliant.
The Petition to Protect the Racecourse in the LDP is now at 7,175 and we continue on with our mission to secure 10,500 names, the current reduced capacity of the racecourse ground while the kop end is closed and being demolished for the student housing development.
PaddyP17 - that petition link you found is 4 years old and was activley trying to stop a certain Alex Hamilton from bulldozing the ground. Fortuantely the will of the fans saved it and got shot of him.
Amazingly despite that close run thing, the local authority didn't at that time seek to protect the Racecourse and this now is our opportunity to make it secure for generations to come with this petition campaign!

See, I did my research. But of course, it's the signatures that count.
Thanks for your support. yep the welsh translation for the Racecourse Ground is Y Cae Ras.
Cae Ras is also a good name for football forums. ;)
Thanks to each and every Charlton fan who has supported this petition.

All the best still need to get the racecourse so they can't touch it
You would be very welcome.

Anybody on this forum not signed yet?
And tell all your mates.
