Squad Looking Thin Already

edited August 2009 in General Charlton
Llera doubtful for Tuesday - 11 stiches
Dailly doubt for today (played with an injection) and doubtful for Tuesday
Richardson apparently should have gone off at HT - doubtful for Tuesday

I can see the loan book coming out very soon.....

  • the squad looks thin because we havent finished building it yet. as long as they're fit for saturday i don't mind about tuesday.
  • I dunno about "thin" - I'd use the word "knackered" from about 70 mins onwards.
  • Talking of thin, anyone else think Elliott (aka the flying pig) has been to fat-fighters?

We seem to have the same problem year in year out. We run out of legs around 75mins.

And to be fair Parky has said he wants two more centre backs, one may or may not be Fortune.

At right back Solly will provide decent cover.

Completely agree. To me that's where our biggest problem is - we just don't seem to be fit enough to last the distance. I mean, how many late goals did we ship last year?
  • I think the squad looks thin all over, even midfield, I know it is very strong at the minute but who have we got coming behind them and can play on the wing, striking looks the only area with enough options and in my opinion they are not good enough

    Scott Wagstaff

    2 wingers at the club?

Was said a while ago he's lost around a stone.

Once Sinclair is back we have him and Spring as cover in central midfield.

In midfield, it's really just out wide we need to strengthen (and of course centre back & up front). Don't think Wagstaff is ready/good enough or think Basey is the answer on the left if Bailey is unavailable.

Rest Dailly (old), Llera (injured) and Richardson (hobbling) on Tuesday. Basey (point to prove) at LB, Youga to partner Semedo at CB (to show they're versatile), Solly (desperate to get games) at RB.

    Simples.
  • Tuesday for me...Elliott, Solly, Semedo, Youga, Basey - Sam, Spring, Racon, Bailey - Gray, McLeod. That'll do.
  • Not at all bothered about tuesday tbh, rest the more senior players and give a run out to the rest- if we win great, if we lose- ho hum.

    That's what I think.
  • Something like that, we mustn't change too much around, but the 3 new defenders need a rest with their injuries. Perfect chance to give Gray, Spring, Solly and Basey a game, and Youga experience in the middle. Happy with McLeod or Dickson up front alongside Gray, probably not worth risking Burton or Jonjo in.
  • might aswell give wagstaff a run out aswell
  • Only a few changes, we need to play what is our best team most of the time. Don't mind Basey for Youga and maybe try a four midfield. But the main personal should be the same. I'd rather see Burton up front with someone else.
