  • Said the Chairman and board were fully behind him. Didn't mention that the players were though.
  • sounded really convincing didn't he, in contradicting both his chairman and his chief executive and bumbling over whether the fans were right to do what we did on tuesday
  • It's a sad fact of modern life that people in the public eye are judged by how they come across in the media.

If they are not "media savvy" and fluent when interviewed people very often just assume they are incompetent in their own speciality.

Not saying anything against you Suzi! Having met you I wouldn't dare:-)
  • Quite obvious that the players are not.
We need a manager, Les Reed is not a manager.
  • Sounded like he was trying to convince himself.
  • Being able to handle the media is all part of modern sport let alone football.
The coverage given to football now is unparalleled, you have to be able to at least convince the public you know what you're doing.
I'm not talking about Reed personally, it goes for everyone.
Whether it is a shame or not doesn't matter, it is a fact. It amused me that in Saturdays programme there was an article about how Reed fierced up the media at a Euro 2000 conference. That must have passed me by!
