a comfortable win to nil, we might not have the excitement of the championship(i think i missed it but quite a few thought it would be) but if we keep this squad then surely we'll be in and around the play offs at least....
burton and gray (from the bench if he hasn't gone yet) to find the net
4-5-1 one of our midfielders score the only goal.

Probably dominate and createfew chances, they'll nearly score once too often and we'll get away with it.
I dont see what can be done differently short of buying two centre halves, a couple of wingers and a striker, and gettin rid of crap like Yassin, Gray, all our strikers.
We'll go 1 down early but win 3-1.

I'm hoping for some new faces and in particular a CB, LM and a decent striker. However the above team should easily get top 6.
I think its fair to say the first game of the season isn't usually a cracker, both teams have just had pre-season and trying to adapt new players into the team etc.
However, we will be playing with the same midfield as last season and we have no injuries. Players such as Shelvey and Bailey should run the show tomorrow.
I can see it ending 1-0 to us but with all the play.

Either that or they will go 1-0 up within the first 5 minutes and everyone will go "FFS"
Before the first day of the season you have to predict your team will win! It's a time to convince yourself that this year it will all fall into place and we'll storm the league.
It looks like pp is 4-5-1 as he feels he doesnt have a pair or thinks jonjo cant have 1 of the 2 midfield births so accomodates.
Think we look strong in midfield as others mention, still cant see us getting many goals and accross the back badly lacking cover should the worse happen.
Personal view would prefer 2 up but lets give the man a chance he has done the best he can with limit movement allowed and we are starting the season with Jonjo and bailey who everyone said would been gone.
I feel our business is conducted more in house now than through the papers as pardew used to do and its more the Charlton way TBH.
Heres hoping for some positives to take from a good match on saturday, i think we will win but only just COYR
I would go for a 3 +1 midfield, of Bailey/Racon/Shelvey + Sam with two up, Dickson and Burton
Hwever I doubt that will happen, expect one up (Burton) so that another midfielder can come in - as suggested will probably be Spring with Semedo injured.
A good attacking formation with the emphasis on good football. I think the message to the players will be go and get the crowd on your side. Really looking forward to that team hopefully and the game.

After all the flak, antagonism, concern, worry and in-fighting among the fans and the board, Parky's settling, calming influence will be key to the performance - and result - against Wycombe. For ninety minutes the fans will - at least should - put aside the carping and moaning and get fully behind the team. And I believe they will.
But we'll also see a very well prepared Charlton team, very committed and very capable of winning by a couple of goals at least. This is the big chance for the players who have the bottle to step forward. And that eleven represents those players that have the bottle and, just as important, have Parky's confidence. So, no Moo2, no McLeod, no Dickson, no Fleetwood. Just eleven hard-working, committed individuals that Parky has seen have earned the right to wear the Charlton shirt. (And for a couple of seasons, it's been hard to find eleven that fit that particular description).
I can see us winning 3-0; I can see us putting in a determined, passionate effort; and I can see the crowd being persuaded to get fully behind the team. Saturday's about the football - at last! - and is the chance to put everything else to one side for a couple of hours.
One downside however, I can see the passion over-spilling as well. We may be facing our first ban of the season, thanks to a red card.

I would play a 4-4-1-1 which would turn into a 4-3-3 when attacking as I don't think Mcleod is interested and Gray and Burton can not play together. However Fleetwood would be on the bench as a plan B along with Dickson. I think Shelvey always looks a better player with Burton ahead of him constantly creating space for him. However, Shelvey does need to learn the more defensive side of the game too, which he looked to be doing at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Is it 7 subs this season? If it is then: Subs: Randolph, Basey, Semedo, Dickson, Fleetwood, Spring, Solly
Quite worrying that we have a serious lack of wide players. Finally, I would encourage them to attack even when 2-0 up to avoid the Blackpool/Cardiff scenarios of last season!
I think we'll get the win and like most on here think Parkinson will play 4-5-1 which makes sense because it means we get the best out of Shelvey, have three decent midfielders (obv. Spring being the exception) and our strikers are so poor it makes sense to play as few of them as poss.
nice 'should have been alot easier' victory after out non firing strikers cant traget after a multitude of chances
will play 451
debut goal from llera (shelvy corner/set piece) and a bundled in goal from Bailey
Voted for the draw. Just the mere mention of the name Wycombe brings back nightmares of that shameful performance in the Carling Cup.
I just hope we show more commitment than we did that awful evening.
I would play 4-5-1 to optimise Jonjo but have a bench enabling us to switch to 4-4-2 if required. McLeod and Dickson would both be amongst my subs because there are some QE2 type defenders in this league and pace will be a useful weapon to have up our sleeves.
I'd expect the 4-5-1 line up but suspect Semedo isn't 100% so would move Bailey inside and have McLead wide left as at Forest Green. If we can score early I can see 3-0 by half time, with hopefully Mambo coming on for Daiily who's missed training and another goal by the end. Shelvey 2, Mcleod, Sam.

I just hope we win, to start the season with some confidence. Nothing else matters too much, as long as we don't pick up any injuries.
A bigger win and a good performance will be a bonus.
