Various guides to League 1.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/8140428.stm

The guide looks better than the 442 one as the comment on how we'll do is "Play-offs at best, serious rebuilding is needed especially in defence and let's hope the strikers can score goals." Sounds pretty accurate to me.

It's great every expert recons their team will be pushing for the play offs...
  • [cite]Posted By: Friend Or Defoe[/cite]Sounds pretty accurate to me.

Apart from Youga being one of the players to watch, ahead of Sam and Bailey.
  • As Tony Is a fans forum rep, we cannot claim that this is an inaccurate, anti Charlton forecast.

I think we will find it hard to be in the top five, based on what I have seen and read, and I have a terrible feeling that clubs will see coming to Charlton as us playing against Man Utd or Chelsea when we were in the prem. I still feel the team is unbalanced and we need a couple of strikers who can score on a regular basis.

If we get a decent start, this could steady the 'team' and perhaps the players may play to there ability. Is Parky up to the job!, well I have major reservations, but at present anything else seems like wishful thinking, and I am running out of that particular commodity.

Would it not be a tonic for everyone to get a 4-0 win.

I think Kelly will surprise a few people this season, but I agree - Sam and Racon are the two players to star this year, imo, with hopefully some highly entertaining cameos from Shelvey.

Bristol Rovers "have a chance of making the play-offs"
    Charlton: "play-offs at best"
Colchester "should be in the shake up for the play-offs"
    Huddersfield: "a top six finish"
"Leeds will finish in the top six"
MK Dons "challenge for the play-offs again"
Norwich: "anyhing less than a play-off challenge will be regarded as failure"
Southampton: "the play-offs are a realistic aim"
Southend: "a play-off challenge could be mounted"
"Swindon chairman Andrew Fitton would like the team to be "in and around" the play-off places at the end of the season"
    Tranmere: "a play-off challenge"

So it looks like we'll be one of eleven teams in the play-offs this season.
  • If we get the best out of Youga like Scunthorpe did, and we did when he first started playing for us, he'll do a decent job.
  • Have i missed something? Do Southampton suddenly have a world beating squad? Their team is rubbish and they're on minus 10 so how can their 'expert' say that the play offs will be a realistic aim?

Cos Pards says so, and he used to manage West Ham you know, so he should know a thing or two about managing unrealistic expectations.

Perhaps they meant watching Youga as Mistakes (Goals) may occur when he is in the vicinity :-)

  • This is not looking good for us. I think if Leeds and Norwich dont go up they would both consider it a faliure of a season but the third team in there should be us.

Players to watch Jonjo, Racon, Bailey and Sam.

Youga?????????? Not sure bout this iv never seen him do great

There's a bit of a difference between; anything less than a play-off challenge will be regarded as failure and, the play-offs are a realistic aim.

Cheers for sorting out the link!
  • Saw the sky prediction, this morning..... Leeds, Charlton, Norwich, Huddersfield. according to Mr Harry Bassett.......

I have no idea, but I do not see us among the leaders myself, hope I am wrong!

    Guardian League One predictions
    Manager Phil Parkinson

One to watch Jonjo Shelvey, 17

Keeping hold of the mercurial Shelvey has to be the Addicks' No1 priority if they are to return to the Championship. Releasing Matt Holland and losing Mark Hudson to Cardiff leaves what proved to be a poor side last season looking dangerously threadbare.

    Prediction Mid-table mediocrity

Not sure I agree that losing hudson and holland are the reason our squad looks threadbare.
But then the same writer has millwall as champions...
  • Sports magazine has us finishing 21st and Newcastle also getting relegated!
  • IMHO these "experts" have as much idea as we do.
The difference being they get paid for talking Bullsh*t.
  • Gruaniad had Millwall as Champions yesterday - jokers!
  • [cite]Posted By: kinveachyaddick[/cite]Gruaniad had Millwall as Champions yesterday - jokers!
I had to feed that into an anagram engine to work out what you were on about :-)
  • A ball hasn't even been kicked yet.

    What does anyone know ....?

Even the best teams may lose key players to injury or their most influential player sold.
And then they freefall down the table.

God knows, it happened to us in the last couple of years.
  • Exactly, if you listen to the "guides" then we would have been in the premiership last season!
