Made the right sort of signings, reliable players with experience, kept the players we want to keep (so far), we look like a team, and he knows exactly where we still need to strengthen the squad. The players seem to rate him. We've also got rid of players we don't need like Ambrose. A new manager might have tried to keep players like him, thinking he can get the best out of them, while we know that's unlikely.
A new manager would need time to change things around, the players wouldn't necessarily be happy with the changes or new manager and I don't believe at all that getting a new manager in now would mean a better start to the season.

He's actually stated he prefers 4-4-2. With the strikers we've got, and the midfielders we've kept, it's easy to understand why he's used it so much. If we had a goalscorer, he'd be playing alongside Burton or Gray in a 4-4-2 near enough every match.

Dicko may not be the ideal link-up player or have great touch, but the guy will score goals at most levels. Alas he seems to be off, having been given a run of just 6 starts to prove himself in his 2nd season as a professional.
[cite]Posted By: Kap10[/cite]We are where we are and need some stability, he seems to be making the right noises, without an obvious replacement candidate we could go from the "frying pan into the fire" so keep. i suspect that he has been told his job is safe .. for now. On borrowed time though, needs a decent start to the season.
We've been on a downward slope for a while now. I wonder if we keep on with what we had, how we can be surprised when we keep on getting what we've always got.
I just don't know. A number of poor results last year were entirely down to his inept, cautious tactics and selections, but generally, he seemed to improve the moral and fitness. It's difficult. Not that I think there'll be a takeover, and if there is I don't think there'll be money anyway, so I might not tax my brain with it...
Nothing to do with lazy, crap players then....
The players have a share of blame yes, but I said at the time that a switch of manager to someone outside the club with a track record at this level and we (more than) had a squad to survive. We had better players than Watford, Forest or Derby all of whom bit the bullet and got a manager from outside. It's not nice, but if Clough, Rodgers or Davis had joined us in December things would have been different: we had better raw materials (and more points) than they had at the places they ended up.

He's not had a proper run no, but I can't see how he's spell at Gillingham and good record for our reserves proves he can 'score goals at most levels'. He's not clearly better than McLeod or Fleetwood, and if he really was that good we wouldn't play 4-5-1.
Though we should keep him, we won't get much at all for him. I'm sure he can get a few goals in League One, but I don't see how he's guaranteed to score goals. If he was we'd be using him more than we have this pre-season.
when Pardew as sacked, regime change would've been the better bet, but it didn't happen. We are where we are and I think Parkinson is a good bet at the moment and have confidence that given a fair wind he will give us a good crack at promotion, he certainly seems to have done as well as could've been hoped through an interminable summer of limbo.
since curbs its been a disaster we got dowie cos murray thought he would get 1 over simon jordan wot a disaster that was then les reed great coach yes manager no then pardew loved himself more than our club then we give the job to parky pardews lap dog we need someone who is strong and who has bollocks to kick our pampered players up the arse parky nice guy as a manager not for me .

with many of the backs being tentative ie. see how we are doing at the start of October
