  • Well, first of all, it was only ever going to be a reserve XI runout.

    And obviously someone at Charlton had rung around different clubs to see who were interested - and got spoilt for choice.

  • The real reason is that the Police called the game off - they had received a tip off that a number of Charlton fans had planned, in the event of defeat, a group suicidal jump off the cliffs.
