Season ticket share - an offer

edited July 2009 in General Charlton
Although we know we can't make it to every game this year, my daughter and I have renewed our season tickets (East Stand). Couldn't bear not to as we've coming most of the time since the return to the Valley.
But I hate to waste the tickets, so I've an offer to make. I'd like someone from this board, or a friend of a poster, to use our tickets when we can't. I don't want any money for this, but I would like the person who gets to use them to be maybe someone who hasn't renewed this year because they lost their job, or maybe someone wanted to go with son or daughter but couldn't afford two tickets.
I'm not really sure how to do this, but perhaps if you are interested you could start off by whispering to me (though not sure how that works!). You'll probably have to live in the Charlton or Greenwich area as if things work out we'll need to be able to pick the tickets up from each other.
I reckon we'll only get to about half the games. They are both adult tickets, but I can't see any problem using one for someone younger.

Prepare to be swamped. A very nice offer indeed.
Our three arrived this am and, no, I'm not putting them up for grabs :-)
  • Thats a nice thought. I'm sure that will help someone out.
  • That is a lovely offer - I have made it a sticky so that hopefully more prople will see it.

Sort of thing that make our club and tbh this forum a good place to be..
  • Makes you proud to be Charlton. Very generous sasha
  • Good on you Sasha.
  • What a genuinely brilliant idea.
  • Fair play to you.
  • What a great gesture.
Ours arrived this morning and my Grandson who is almost 5 was naughty at nursery a couple of times last term , so to teach him a lesson will he will made to attend all the home games until he learns to behave, does it make a bad Grandad?
  • Very generous indeed
  • What a nice thing to do - may your blessings be multiplied.

  • Hello all - sorry to be slow in replying. My daughter will be here tomorrow so we'll have a look at the replies then.
  • This is a great idea and I am sure there are others on here that for one reason or another are unable to attend all the matches during the season but unable to pass the ticket on to someone who would like to attend. I know that I don't always use my season ticket but do pass on my ticket to friends when able to do so. However, there are occasions (believe this or not) when this option is not taken up. Is there any mileage in CL putting together some kind of list of know CLifers that we could notify (and sometimes very late in the day) when spare season tickets could be made available. Not sure CAFC will appreciate this offer but at least the seat will be used.

    As Nolly would say.......DISCUSS!

Well I am in a similar position. I am retired and tend to take holidays in the winter. When we were in the PL sons of friends were happy to take up my seat - even paying the diffrenceo as I am a concessionary ST holder. I think there may not be the same enhusiasm this year. So I would be happy to take part in such a scheme. I live in Warwick and so only come to Charlton for matches and have found no problem picking up tickets from friends who also have STs.

Althouh it's not so much of an issue this season, I can rarely get to midweek games as the journey ends up with a long drive, even if you take he train, getting home just after 1.00 am,so midweek games would also be available.
  • Top idea mate, being one of the many people out of work at the mo there is no way I could afford a season ticket and at this rate will be luckily if I can get to a few games at all, in the past a family member who is on here has helped out with tickets, and with my sister and missus being teachers in charlton we often get some comps come our way if there's left overs from the pupils (much to airmans annoyance... ;-).) So I think your a top person and would be very humble if any offers came along, I hate being in the state I'm in at the mo, most on here will vouch I'm a good bloke just with the gods worst run of luck since losing my job in may, of course once I do find a job and the money starts comming in again I will try to be there every Saturday cheering us on to a historical league and cup double.. ;-)
  • Is this the first CL "love in"?

Adam, I have a junior ticket that you are welcome to use when its available which will be most of the season, although somehow I doubt you'd get away with being under 11. Buy me a pint when your rich and famous.
P.S. its in The Covered End
