Ok,
So it looks like we are going to get some news.
Most seem to be of the opinion that it is going to be bad.
If we get an announcement that there is to be no new investment and we are stuck with what we have, I assume that will mean player sales. Is that the best way forward? Or is it the only way?.
How would you take us forward from a worse case scenario position?
Would you sell off anyone with a decent price-tag and rebuild with players more reflective of our current status?. Would you go into adminstration and hope for a knight in shining armour? Would you look for one big transfer fee? i.E sell Shelvey and demand cash upfront - thus waiving any future appearance fees, money for England caps and or sell on fees?
Not saying I agree with any of the above, but am interested to hear what people would consider to be the best way forward.

I thought you ought to know i'm feeling very depressed!
if the consortium looking to now get us a little cheaper than planned (maybe they were lining up this move all along) and are left with available funds with which to lavish on their newly acquired club. is this then a bad deal for us the fans?
yes we should feel sorry for our board for their financial loss as none of us want that for them but ultimately it's charlton athletic that i support and if the present board deem the newcomers to be what's best for the club then that's good enough for me.

The only reason I mentioned the dreaded "A" word and knight in shining armour is that most clubs that have gone into adminsitration seem to find a buyer....not that I'm advocating it.

All fair points, that have been discussed elsewhere.
I started this thread on the hypothetical basis that there was to be no new investment in the near future and am genuinely interested on what people think the best move would be should we get a worst case scenario annoucement sometime soon.
Yeah, bollox to it all... and it's your round!
I dread to think what kind of mess of a team we'd be left with for Wycombe...
i think i would emigrate.
Yep.
I can understand why some people are jumping to worst case scenarios in the abscence of news, or signs of life. The FF and AFKA have been in touch with t'board and I think they must make a statement in the near future if only to try and clarify things a little. If the Mail story is accurate then the news on the T/O would have been released late last week or over the weekend but it seems that the Board are either being messed around by the buyers or perhaps are messing the buyers around, but who knows...
Totally agree
Totally agree....... and second that.
Charlton is the Valley, it is our bedrock, our heritage, our soul.....

In any business if you make bad business decisions (and fcuk mine in my opinion they have) then you should expect to lose money.
My understanding is that Jonjo is wanted by Middlesborough-but he isn't interested in them. It seems Chelsea have also made enquiries about buying him, and loaning back for the season.
Don't for one minute think that wouldn't be on the table if the current board stays. Very scary.
If that means we sell players then so be it the club is more important, we need to survive and survive we will, the club then needs to get us back on side how i dont know but one thing is for sure at games we need to support the team and hang on in there
sell Gray (dont give him away)
sell Jon Jo to a team that may loan him back to us (best option) i never thought i would say that
Sell Bailey
Sell Racon
Bring Mambo,Stavrou,Solly,Wagstaff, up to the first team squad and use them Get Damien Matthews involved in the team
Lets hope youth and enthusiasm and a desire to fight in the face of adversity can ensure that we are still in the league by xmas new year and go from there,
but most of all we all need to turn up and plough as much cash as we can afford into the support of the boys home and away
Ay ah ah ah ah ah
Ay ah ah ah ah ah
It had such a negative effect on collective moral and another one could be just the same, another season like the last and you wonder when it will all stop. But although depressing I think we will take this one on the chin and use it to fire our defiance.
It may or may not be on the table if the current board stays. Having sold the training ground it could be.
But the Valley will 100% be sold if we are taken over. We just don't know who it is who will be buying the Valley along with the Club, what they have been waiting for or what there motives for buying the Club are. They could all be totally genuine and positive from a fans point of view but right now we just don't know.
We don't even know if it is bad news yet or if so even how bad.
How about waiting until we've heard before jumping to conclusions.
Thats where we all come in
anyone who is not going because of Parky needs to get out of that frame of mind we need bums on seats and people through the gates we may only be plastering over the cracks but it may just buy us time and it may give the board time to find a buyer who wants to buy us not someone who wants to pick us up on the cheap
if the new investors or owners are willing to let us go into administration before they put their money in then to be honest i dont think i could ever trust them my faith in the current board has been waivering although i just dont want to go about shouting about how shit they are
No one has been lied to, I guess the statement will say something that will shoot the nut job conspriacy theories down, and Murray and Chappell will keep investing to keep the club alive.
As NLA said, we're all going to have dig deep, and hope we can do something with a mix of youth and good free transfers.
It all reminds me a lot of what happened to Bristol City back in the 80s, when they sank from the old 1st division to the bottom of the 4th division in successive seasons. They ran out of money, had to release all their first team players from their contracts and play a team of kids. Time will tell, but I fear another pretty grim season for us.
Manage our expectations as supporters for coming season as we'll be Also rans before a ball is kicked when we sell anyone worth anything.
