In an odd way Murphy. At least with Parker we got great money. Murphy did something a bit different. Not as good a player as Parker or Lee, but it was more of an avoidable departure for me, and the rot really took hold then. Hughes and Holland central midfield pairing opened the door to the likes of Faye. The rest, is history.

I would agree with that entirely, he took a lot of stick on here when he went, prima donna, doesn't work hard enough, blah blah blah, but at the time he and Bent were tearing teams apart for fun.
As neither was sold for financial reasons but one wanted to earn more (to the determent of his overall career) whilst the other could not afford to leave in London anymore. How times have changed from 1987!
In truth there's been way way too many to mention..........but of course Parker was the most glaring example of the on-going problem over many decades.
Timing wise. Scott Parker, personally (IMHO) we have been on a downward spiral ever since he left. Andy Reid's sale hastened it.
You could even add: Paulo - for his enthusiasm and commitment, Darren Bent - Could never have kept him after relegation but really miss his goals, or Dean Kiely - just for his commitment to the badge.
But if you meant "WORST" player......this could be a long list.

You could be right tho another stupid sale was Andy Reid!
I was also annoyed about selling Gordon Watson, a Charlton boy, you could feel the depression amongst the supporters when he went.
Sold for £80,000.
We still haven't replaced him.
Right, Len .... ?
Right on Oggy :-)
