[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]on a two year deal. Could've done a decent job for us at League 1 level imo.
I get the feeling you may say that about every player someone in League 1 signs apart from us.
well Narwich have signed four players and I've not said that about any one of them so your dig is unfounded and completely unnecessary and I take great offence at it.
He's been playing in the Championship for the last few years - surely would have been a good signing.
I'm sure his name was mentioned, maybe it was on Addickted, and people were saying wages would be too high and he'd go to a Championship side. Didn't expect him to end up at a team just promoted to League One.
I hope we considered him and decided a different centre back (plus Fortune) was a better option.

lol at least you didn't win the Golden Slug award now that was offensive!
Was desperately over-rated as a young player, but still a competent central defender. Not worried either way, could have been a good addition but also in his career rarely has he cemented a first team place.
[cite]Posted By: BBClaus[/cite]don't worry about duberry, we've got Mambo.
Llera has praised Mambo. Going to be an interesting season for him. I thought we might have offered him a pro deal this summer, a year early, but I guess that's more expenses we don't need. With 7 subs he might get on the bench a bit, and as he's very good physically at just 17 he might go out on a 'work experience' loan.
Llera also had praise for his young central defensive partner Yado Mambo, the second year scholar enjoying an eye-catching outing in the opening period and having what looked to be a perfectly good goal disallowed.
"I spoke with him before the game and he told me he felt very nervous as it was his first match with the first team," said Miguel. "He's a very good player and he's strong. It's not easy to train every day and them come in and play in front of a big crowd.
"Between all the players we need to help him to get better, and he must learn from the players that play in his position. He scored a good goal though, but unfortunately the referee disallowed it."
[cite]Posted By: Dazzler21[/cite]Not if he's not in the 1st team yet!
I appreciate that if it was a random youth player then no he wouldn't have a pro contract, but he seems to be a decent prospect, one for the future, and likely to feature in 1st team squad a bit this season, so i'd have thought we'd cover ourselves by getting him on a deal quickly
[cite]Posted By: Chris_from_Sidcup[/cite]Regarding Mambo, if he's a decent prospect (which he seems to be) and he's 17, surely we should've tied him to a pro deal already?
Yeah I said in another thread I thought that might happen. Wright, Arter and Solly all went pro at 17, Shelvey did on his 17th birthday.
Difference with Arter and Wright is we're now in League One, with a smaller squad, you can have 7 subs and there is no reserve league.
I think he might well get a pro deal in the middle of the season.
Tuna hasn't turned pro yet either, though I think Mambo is a better prospect than he is.

The player won't even need to move house, so if he's a family man with kids settled in school, it's a no brainer for him.
LOL

as maybe but he'll be one of the better centre halves in League 1 and that is where we are now.
Disagree
Agree

he is a great lad and keeps himself to himself and he could have done a good job for us this year i think
met him once on a wild night out - came across as a nice man.
