Forest Green PSF

edited July 2009 in General Charlton
Hi again

Just to let you know the best pub is of course the club bar, the Green Man, visiting fans welcome and we're all very approachable. There's plenty of beer and lager, several TV screens and we'll be doing hot food (plan at the moment is a choice of cottage pie or sausage and mash). Very tasty and good value (£3 usually)

We will also (and we don't do this for everyone) have some real ale on, Marstons Ashes Ale, described by the brewer as 'a very easy drinking light coloured patriotic ale at 4.1 % ABV, brewed with passion and desire to beat the Aussies and cheer the England team to victory '

Looking forward to seeing you all.

    Saturday July 18th, 3PM KO.
  • Not a ref - but as long as the ball moves forwards from kickoff then I think it's fine!
  • Sounds good to me. I'm in
  • I know this is difficult, but does anyone have any idea how many of you are likely to turn up?

need to buy enough sausages, see ;)

I dunno but you should expect a fair few as it's a new ground for us.

    I wouldn't cater for more than 50......
  • Sledge FGR - I'm not going but I would estimate about 300...interest is at rock bottom at the moment.

Blinding!! More sausages for me then :)
  • My guess and it's only a guess is you'll get about 100 CAFC fans there.

A league game that distance would only attract about 600 at the moment.

This is a pre season friendly, that most people aren't interested in, some are on hols, some will be watching The Ashes etc etc.

Sledge, i'd say somewhere between 50-150, and i would warn that a lot of league fans aren't used to drinking in clubhouse bars, so might naturally find a local pub out of habit.

I'd suggest emailing Charlton, and asking them to mention your clubhouse and that all Charlton fans are welcome, in their match preview.
  • I might be going :)
  • Thanks all
  • See you there
  • This game is now going to be a Charlton XI instead of the first team and i can't see it going down too well at such short notice.
  • First team at Crawley on Tuesday then, which I should be going to. After the Welling fitness training it'll be good to see a team closer to our first choice line up.

    Since when Mart?
  • It's on the SLP site
JOSE Semedo will be one of only a handful of senior Charlton players who travel to Forest Green on Saturday.
The fixture had originally been advertised as a first-team game but, after completing a busy tour of Ireland, a Charlton XI will now travel to The New Lawn.
Injury has prevented Semedo from taking part in the clubs two games in Ireland but he is expected to be involved, along with a number of academy prospects.

I've already bought my train tickets and, no it hasn't gone down very well! :(

    Bastards!!!!
  • Somebody had better tell Sledge FGR not to order too many sausages..if it's an CAFC XI the numbers of visiting fans will be in single figures..me included if i can be arsed now.

    Ha, ha!
  • Oh well it's a day out i suppose
  • So... the range of guesses on here of 50-600 can probably be fine tuned a bit? !!
