RIP - a really lovely man. When he came back for the Centenary game in 2004 against Newcastle, he stood at the side of the pitch and watched the montage on the big screen - I turned to him and said that you will see yourself in a minute and when he popped up he said wow and started waving at his family. Absolute privilege to have met the man, there are many that say he should have suceeded Jimmy Trotter but I guess a Cup winners' medal is not all bad. RIP Bert.

One of those names i grew up hearing about.
My sister used to be a district nurse in the Leicester area where he settled. Said he was such a lovely man and loved talking about Charlton.
