Move for Gerkin unlikley as a fee will be involved

Palace unlikely to move for Gray as they cannot afford his wages

  • Good.

    Expect they will sign.

Good, Elliot and Randolph will do.

Still unsure about Gray. He should do well in League One with a good team and plenty of service, but if he still has personal problems it could effect him and we might be better off selling him if possible. Has he settled in the south yet?
  • Could be very good if we keep Gray but if his wages are a problem for Palace, then what about us?!

It would be great if he stayed, but his wages are probably quadruple what we can really afford.
  • If Palace can't afford Gray's wages, how really can we?
  • They also hinted at a stall in the takeover " because of uncertainty over a possible takeover of the club "

We can't, of course - which is quite possibly the principle reason we are prepared to sell him in the first place.
  • May end up loaning him out for a season like we did with Bent and Faye until someone wanted to sign them permanently.
  • Parky also tried offloading him on loan to Stoke back in January which suggests they want rid
  • I thought Stoke were interested (and Gray turned them down), rather than Parkinson trying to send him there?
  • This is THE big news for 23rd June.

    That does not make sense?

why not that's a quote from what they said, this is the full sentence "The pair have yet to agree new deals at The Valley, a process which is taking longer to resolve than normal because of uncertainty over a possible takeover of the club"
  • There are 4 quotes on the South London Press website.

CRYSTAL Palace will not be moving for Charlton striker Andy Gray - because they cannot afford his wages.

CHARLTON keeper Darren Randolph is expected to sign a new contract at The Valley on Thursday.

    Matt Holland and Jon Fortune
The pair have yet to agree new deals at The Valley, a process which is taking longer to resolve than normal because of uncertainty over a possible takeover of the club.

CHARLTON are unlikely to move for Colchester keeper Dean Gerken.

Anything about the takeover in the South London guess is normally 'reported' by their hack Richard Hawley.
He is the palace fan that is making all this takeover nonsense up.
  • It's Cawley, not Hawley, he's been talking to Peter Varney and Richard Murray since 1998 (when he took over from me as sports editor of the Mercury) and it's neither nonsense nor made up.

God knows we're all fed up with this saga - staff, supporters and quite probably directors - but rubbishing the only paper interested in digging for the story and with the contacts to do so doesn't help anyone.

I'll take your word for that.If true then the timing is absolutely shocking. To stand any chance of getting out of this league you've got to hit the ground running. We're 4 possibly 5 weeks behind the competition in terms of preparation with a squad very low on confidence that appears to have very little direction. The whole bloody thing is a recipe for disaster and it's highly likely we'll be at the bottom looking up again next season.
