a settled team!

We all have our opinions who is good, bad, or just plain shite! .
Whatever the team, let us get one thing right this year, a settled squad, with the young players being used where possible please.

And no I do not mean playing a raft of raw young kids against a bunch of bone headed , lard arses who are more interested in kicking the player than the ball......

And ,not the chop and change of the past couple of season's.

Give a player a shirt and a number, and whoever is the manager make them earn and work for the team. Loan's only have a place IMO when we need emergency cover due to injury.

Playing short term loanees, is largely divisive, yes there are exceptions, and at times there is little alternative.
So no 40 plus player teams please. Hopefully by showing the players they have a place, they have to work hard each game to keep it, and the confidence to play in that position for the team.

  • If I asked the average Addick to name me all the players who played for us in the last two or three seasons, I can almost certainly guarantee that the vast majority would struggle to name half of them...it was frankly ludicrous.
Yes, we do indeed need a settled side.
  • same comments made this time last year and we know how our wonderful management structure( pardkinson) went about their business after the previous seasons warning
  • Settled team, but just as importantly players playing in their correct positions. No more Holland at CB and Semedo at CM with Baily on the LW...that was as ridiculous as the change over in players.

I'd disagree with you on Bailey. I thought he was a revelation playing on the left and was scoring for fun. His valuation went up by approx £1M after playing on the left. The prob with him playing in the middle was, although he's a good tackler, his passing is poor and this isn't as detrimental playing wider.

I get your point but IMO he is no winger, he does not have the pace or skill to beat a player (no critisism, he is just not that type of player). He is a young CM and that it where he should play if we want him to improve, he scored plenty from the middle anyway.
  • I'm sorry Bailey was quality out on the left, drive determination, helped out youga no end, scored for almost fun and put in some quality cross's from out there aswell. Plus i'd play Shelvey, Racon and Semedo ahead of him in the centre
  • So what? Bailey isn't a natural winger. Nor was Graeme Stuart.

But in their own way, both filled the space and brought an extra dimension to our play, scored goals, protected the full back behind and made the midfield far more solid.

Common sense selection from both their respective managers.

I don't think his tackling is that good either. Yes he 'gets stuck in', but far too many times he's given away silly free kicks, or dived in and completely missed the player and the ball.

His passing is fine until he starts trying to play much harder passes.

I agree with the rest though, he was far better on the left. More freedom, scored goals, helped out Youga, and meant we could play Racon, Shelvey and Zheng all in the same midfield.

It also gives a better balance. Rather than two out and out wingers, which Pardew often played, the midfield is more solid. He doesn't have the pace or skill of a winger no, but as said he's far more of a Graham Stuart type player when he plays out wide. We've got more out of Lloyd Sam than we have most other wingers in the last few years, that shows how ineffective they've been. As long as we have a natural winger on the opposite side to give us some width, it's no problem at all to have a CM/wide midfielder on the other side.
  • Yassin could be the answer to the width problem given a decent chance ?
  • If you mean in midfield Sam is fine. I doubt Yassin will get any more chances here anyway. Shame really.

Some Miserableold-ish git said that all season last year.
  • I don't think bailey on the left is as a winger but more in line of the wingless wonders of '66.I don't have a problem with loan players as long as they are on a minimum of half season loans, have not been injured for a long periods prior to us getting them and that they are clearly definetly nbetter than what we already have.

Loan players can add to a squad other clubs have benefited, justnot us

I originally stated.......Playing short term loanees, is largely divisive, yes there are exceptions, and at times there is little alternative......

It is the week in, week out of not knowing who your team mate is that I feel has been part of the issue /problem at Charlton.

If you look to the back of an old Charlton programme, especially the defence and midfield stayed the same except for injuries and cup games, not one week one set of players next week 7 changes etc.

With a smaller squad ( because of wages) this should be automatic. How do we ever expect our strikers to score when week to week you start with a rota of strikers...... when you are 2-0 down away from home fair enough make a change, but change for the sake of it, is not sophisticated management, it is poor management, IMO.....

Yassin will not play for Charlton again. I think this might have been mentioned before (about 100 times) :-)

Can we be absolutely sure of this? Until the OS reveals a story about Moo2 leaving for France or elsewhere he remains our player and Parky, or whoever else, has him available for selection.

Must be on reasonable money IMHO and so he may not be the easiest to offload as French football isn't awash with cash. At least not at the level Moo2 might find a home.

Could see him being loaned out perhaps if there are takers who'll pick up the tab.

    Agreed

This is definately true if Parky & Kinsella remain...if however they are moved on (and the board changes in a takeover), then I would imagine whoever the new manager in was may want to take a look at the entire squad and give them all a chance to show what they could do, so you can never say never...
