Why was ........

the Nick Gray disscusion deleted this morning?

Some may say admin are playing right into the hands of CL critics by pulling it. I didn't see anything on the thread that warranted it!

  • "Yes, it seems to have gone. For those who did't catch it, Nick had a number of supporters that didn't tow the party line on CL."

    what a pathetic statement.
  • Because it then moved away from the initial discussion, started mentioning other people, which followed with an inappropriate comment i deleted. As far as i could see, i was the only admin online today, and was booked in meetings virtually all morning. I did not want to return this afternoon to find it had descended into a farcial slanging match.

As for 'playing into the hands of CL critics', to be quite honest i don't give a fuck anymore. People want to knock this site for some reason then go ahead. I spend near enough all my waking time trying to think of things to keep this primarily a football forum that doesn't descend into people slagging each other off all the time, whilst balancing a full time job. Yet i seem to waste the whole fucking time dealing with people moaning, slagging this or that off, explaining why decisions are made to sink or pull threads, trying to urge people away from certain subjects etc. Its supposed to be a bit of fun, but at the moment to me its just hassle after hassle.
  • "I enquired as to where the thread had gone and why and a certain oohahmortimer, your good self?, wrote below *delete the above*."

Are you the admin then oohaah?

what a bunch of tossers! CL a clique? They must be joking ... spend some time on here and see how some of the arguments develop!

Apart from that, there's a lot of people on here that would in no way post or be involved if that was the case ... including me.
  • i'm not admin
    i'm the truth
  • thats a lie.
  • I am not in any clique I hate the lot of you!

For me personally i think that'd be a bit boring. I like the fact this site is so diverse and that we can discuss pretty much anything. One of the most entertaining forums for me is the Everton rivals site WSAG where they discuss pretty much everything except Everton!
AFKA - don't let them get to you. The proof is in the numbers that log on mate and i'm sure this is by far the most popular Charlton site.

Feck em mate dont worry about the negative comments and the moaning and groaning keep doing what your doing you know it is working.

And the rest of you just agree with everything I say and then you will be ok RIGHT
  • On a serious note I love this site and use it as my first port of call for all things CAFC, I also like the fact that all things are discussed on here and they are all on one page. I agree though it is a site for Charlton fans and should not be solely for posting about Charlton (although it is our main vice), if it was AFKA some of your categories would need deleting.
  • wouldnt agree with anyone that lives on the wrong side of the water
  • Should there be a discussion about Nick Gray at all? Is that what it's come to?

    i'm a fellow wsag lurker.
does this mean we can start our own clique?
  • I'm not trying to stir up trouble here but I get the feeling anytime someone who isn't a regular posts on here and has an opinion that is slightly different to the regulars there are far too many people ready to throw abuse at them. Not agreeing any sort of clique or anything like that but I can see how some new people get that impression but on the other hand maybe those people are looking for that reaction.

All that said this is definitely the best Charlton site and the most entertaining forum (about Charlton anyway) and I agree with cfgs that this is also my first port of call for all the news. Keep up the good work everyone.
  • Dan, chill mate. I'm sure most Charlton fans that visit forums recognise CL as being one of the best, that's why sly digs at us formulate on other inferior sites. I come on here every day to read mainly well thought out comments and interesting discussions. Although I occasionally flick through other sites, I generally can't be bothered with the total negativity shown towards the club. By asking the question of why the thread was deleted, it wasn't aimed as a dig to you or other admin. To me it didn't appear to be a mud slinging discussion, but you have stated your reasons, which is all I ask. When your'e at the top people want to knock you down, take it as a compliment not a critisism!
  • Who is Nick Gray? Didn't read the thread. Is he just a fan?
  • the club has had a footballing nightmare in recent times .... it's a negative time to be a charlton fan

He's part of the 'Your Views' clique apparently

Guys, can we tone the language down a bit? This is a family club after all ;-)

Football Allegiances aside, CL is becoming for me, an essential forum. Ok, I'm not a Charlton supporter and never will consider myself one BUT I do have a little soft spot for you guys after many years of being dragged to the Valley and before that Upton Park (and Wembley once!) by AFKA and its great seeing decent discussion. Having originally lurked on the netaddicks board years ago having wandered across from the original SpursWeb board (where all the original posters have now moved over to SIMB if anyone is interested), CL is a world away now.

FFS, I've even had marriage guidance councelling on here, I took part in the half-marathon run last October and help raise a load of cash for Demelza. Would I have got that on Netaddicks, SpursWeb or even SIMB? No. I know everyone is entitled to their opinions but this place, weirdly, feels like home. Dont knock it guys, you should feel lucky and honoured to have a decent board like this!

(+1 WSAG lurker too, only because there are two Evertonians in my office.
  • I can't live without this site...NOW WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN ON 23rd JUNE
  • ITS MY SISTER'S BIRTHDAY ON 23RD JUNE *makes mental note*

How anyone can make sly digs at CL is beyond me. Can't be pwopa charlton eh.

Little chance of me trying to get into the football team. I'm just happy someone has quoted me, must be the first time ever!
  • Don't let the idiots get you down Dan, you run a great site!
  • [cite]Posted By: Stu of HU16[/cite] idiot Dan, you ruin a great site!

    Bit harsh ;o)
  • AFKA this site is great. Take no notice of snipers and whingers who couldn`t do better and tell them to piss off if they don`t like it.

Great points you make JohnBoy and to be honest you are absolutely correct. Charlton Life is a fantastic site and we should all be very proud of Afka and the gang's brilliant work. We may have dwindling gravitas on the field but Life is a top flight high quality site and long may it be so.RESPECT TO ALL CONCERNED!
