Even if a takeover comes about, our season's preparation is going to be seriously disrupted. If a price is agreed, due diligence is going to be at least a fortnight I'd guess, by which time Parky is going to be taking pre-season. We will have players returning who we may not be able to afford to keep, and their replacements could have gone to other clubs while our finances are in limbo. If the takeover goes through, is Parky out?
Another week to appoint a new manager, even if the new bosses have one in mind, we'll be lucky to get our new recruits in before the season starts, and if they were free agents they're unlikely to be fit. Then we have to hope the new manager sticks to a 1st choice eleven and they gel quickly.
If no new owners and Parky stays, we then have to ship high earners out and rebuild the squad with little cash and kick-off rapidly approaching.
Perhaps it'd be better to get the buyer's choice of new guy in now, have him work to the shoestring budget and upgrade the squad in January if the deal goes through.
[cite]Posted By: c4fcdenmark[/cite]I so want that rumour about parky clearing his desk be true. Source, anyone?!!
I heard about a month ago that Kins had cleared his stuff. Someone (Rodex i think) posted last week that it was said at the charity game that Parky had cleared his desk.
may be your source is wrong then AFKA? sounds odd to me.
I can only add what many others have said before on this issue - BELIEVE .
After the calamitous decisions made by the Board over the past couple of seasons, they HAVE to get it right now. This is truly the biggy . With fingers tightly crossed behind my back, I have faith that RM & co will do us proud in both long term financial security matters ( well, as much as anything can be judged secure in these mad days ) and in a sound & popular managerial appointment...
And putting my head firmly on the chopping block, I think said manager in waiting is already planning & plotting behind the scenes as to his squad for next season. Anything less would be foolhardy so close to contracts ending & players being made available .
( Fanny now plugs both ears with her fingers and "La la ala 's" loudly - this course of action will continue until THE announcement is made. Please have some sympathy for Mr F )

depending on whom you believe we already have a Manager in PP, and if he isn't then why not just tell us, and if as you suggest another manager is already plotting behind the scenes then why not just appoint him, watch season ticket sales increase and give us all a huge bloody great lift. Unless of course the takeover falls through and he won't be appointed and we are back to PP. Or, worse still, there isn't even a takeover in the offing.
All bets taken by me. I'm not saying I agree but just to stop you all dreaming etc I wanted to make the picture clear.
Phil Parkinson will be, indeed is our Manager next season. That is it, nothing more. How long he lasts is unclear, I'd expect a review at Christmas time I guess.

Right then Chirps thats a 10ner with you and 10 with Brunello
the new takeover wont be a roman abramovich style throw your hat at it mob (if it happens at all IMO) we'll prolly just trundle along with a small cash injection , nothing to get too excited about but indeed in these desperate times the rose tinted, anything that happens to charlton is brilliant club, will clutch at anything ;-)

What else is there to do? Is there any news to tell us? Perhaps there is news in the offing but not quite done and dusted? Maybe something significant was in the pipeline but isn't any longer?
I'll believe it when it is on the OS.
In the meantime, just enjoy the sunshine and let's see how things pan out. But I have every faith RM will make the right call if he needs to.
I'm sure there is someone on here with better knowledge of takeovers than I have but I would assume:
1. If we are subject to a takeover, those trying to take over the club would demand a "period of exclusivity"
2. During this period those taking over would carry out "due dilligence" i.e. checking that what they think they are buying is what they are buying (I know we went through dd with Zabeel, but that was several months and a relegation ago)
3. Periods of exclusivity usually have break clauses, which impose a financial penalty on either party if they breach the agreement.
4. Either party could have imposed on the other a "silence clause" as part of this agreement
If the company was listed on an SE this would not be possible, as you would have to inform the market that you were subject to a takeover under SE rules. As i understand it we were delisted from AIM some time ago, so this rule may not apply.
Upshot of this is that, you can demand as much information as you like, but if it breaches a legal agreement that could cost either party a chunk of change and the break up of the takeover, so concrete information will be in short supply!
Pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if the period of exclusivity ends on the 23rd June )
I heard that Parky cleared his desk because due to cutbacks a new 'hot-desking' system has been introduced. Parky's pencil case and exercise books are in his locker, waiting for him to come back from Boys Brigade camp.
