  • Not really surprising.
  • Who?
  • Its funny.

They bang on about how much we hate them and they dont care yet I cant remember much, if any, traffic on Rivals leading up to the game when we relegated them. Sure we sang a few songs but in my mind that was just normal football banter.

They really seemed to hate this and now anything we fail at they see as an opportunity for revenge despite having no direct impact on this.

Its all quite sad really and just shows what huge chips on their shoulders they have. After all they were supposed to be the team of the 80's / 90's....................
  • Being hated by a bunch of granny beaters? If they're not beating up kids and old ladies on trains they are burning scarfs or posting meaningless messages on rivals. If you were to measure a club by the actions of their fans then Palace would form the low end of the scale. They really are the bottom feeders of the football world.
  • Interesting, and i just wondered if things had been reversed and Palace had been relegated (if only!) would the emergence of Jonjo been seen as the highlight more than Palace going down?
  • It baffles me when Jordan and anyone else connected with Palace get in such a lather over that game in 2005. It's one of the basic rules of football fandom that one local rival inflicting some misfortune on another is greeted with glee by their fans. I'd expect the same if Millwall or Palace did it to us, its the way of the world.
  • Of course they care. Might not be a huge rivalry like you get between other clubs, but there's definitely something each way.

Keep telling yourself that Dan, the majority of your posts on here are regarding Palace so you clearly have a strong dislike for our club.

You're very much disliked at the moment, ultimately if you don't make an immediate return then you'll go off the radar again. Can you honestly say relegating us wasn't one of the biggest highlights of the last 10 years for Charlton fans? I've watched "that" match a few times since and when the final whistle went it was laughable how happy your fans were.

We may not have relegated you, but the decline of CAFC is pretty laughable to be honest and you can't deny if we were in your position that you wouldn't be doing the same.
  • I will be shot down here, but I expect and hope that the Crystal Palace fans laugh at us and enjoy our demise, because we have been utter chite and deserve it...
    BUT ESPECIALLY
When the roles are reversed, and history suggests that over two thirds of the time the roles are reversed, we can, and we will, give it back big time...Crystal Palace fans should really make hay while the sun shines (out of Jordans a*se) because they know that pretty soon they will have to revert to being second best to us.
So come on Palace fans, give it some more, do your best, because you don't get many opportunities after all, and you need a little bit of compensation for being condemned to Jordan/Croydon/Selhurst/debt/no ownership of the ground/low support/lousy history and tradition.....and for the most part living in our shadow...for the sake of the Crystal palace fans that I know, and yes, like and respect as people (but not their choice of club), you need a bit of sustenance, and you're getting it for now.
  • Some points of reference to post #9-No one on here dislikes Dan at all, quite the reverse. Palace have never been on the radar to fall off and totally agree with Seth.

  • pilchard, I honestly don't think churley was saying Dan was disliked on here, more that Charlton are disliked by Palace fans.
Of course Palace fans were delighted to see your relegation, as Charlton fans were when Palace were relegated.

I don't know why fans of both sides, continue to say they don't care about the other, its obvious they do. As Seth says, Palace fans should enjoy the moment, as things may well change in the future.

As Budgie said, I didn't mean Dan was disliked on here, with all due respect it's not something I take a personal interest in as I very much doubt I'll ever meet Dan!

Well said though Seth, there's little point trying to determine whether or not we'll be the ones laughing in the future because we're both in precarious situations, especially off the pitch. The chances are though we'll probably end up regretting the banter we're giving you, because, well, we're only Palace!

That being said, I hope you don't fall off the radar because the increased animosity between the 2 clubs has certainly made the fixture a highlight of the season, win lose or draw and it'd be a shame in some ways if we have another long wait, we have enough of those problems with Brighton!
  • That poll just shows you how s*it Palace's season has been if there second highlight has been us going down, beaten by the emergence of a 17 year old at right back. I'd have Palace has dark horses for relegation next year, they're bust. Plus, Agent Ambrose is on board now with Agent McCarthy!
  • I dont see why anyone should be surprised that they are laughing at us, we have done the same in the past, and hopefully will do again, its the law. :-)

Some of us need to get over ourselves.

I think Agent McCarthy lost his instructions before he got over there, I'm expecting better (i.e. worse) from agent Ambrose.

Yep it's true, after a decent spell with the likes of Beattie in the team and before McCarthy's injury, we looked like mounting another playoff challenge, after that we were dreadful so I'm definitely concerned for next year!

I think you can relate to why it was one of the seasons highlights though. Relegating us was surely the biggest highlight for you in 05?

It's obviously good to see your opinions on players, especially ones we've signed. McCarthy has genuinely been excellent for us and would of 100% won the player of the year if he'd been fit all season. Ambrose is a different player all together but he's certainly going to be lucky to make a name for himself if he fails to impress again at Palace so it's an intriguing signing.

then get back to plotting how you can attack more old men women and children on their way to a game, or even deny it and say that they were calling it on

In fairness, I dont think Churley or Budgie are currently, or would want to be associated & defensive of those cowards at Sydenham station, leave that to the hoolie wannabe's on other palarse sites.

  • Thanks DA9, as I said on another discussion many moons ago, the acts at Sydenham were indefencible, all clubs have moron fans, but unfortunately for Palace ours let all Palace fans down that day.

Whether the majority of my posts are regarding Palace or not is moot as it does not address the point I made, which was that I cannot remember vast amounts of topics from a wide number of CAFC fans regarding your impending doom back in 2005.

Which is quite the opposite of what you could, and still can, find on the various CPFC MBs.

Honestly? No it wasn't. The playoff win, Div 1 title, doing the double of Chelsea, beating Arsenal 4-2 at Highbury, winning at Anfield........ All much more memorable.

As I said before, and I can only speak for myself, that whilst relegating you was fun and gave us something to wind Palace fans up about, it was no more than that.

Bragging rights over a bunch of fans who for some unknown reason think their club has a higher historical status than ours, despite no evidence to back it up with.

I agree with Churley1. Charlton Dan does spend the vast majority of his Charlton Life postings criticising Palace. Seems a bit strange to me, I wonder why ?
