[cite]Posted By: stonemuse[/cite]wtf? not much of a hit is it.
However it's a strange one - would they have done that if one point would have relegated a team? Probably not!
I think Boro got relegated by a points deduction the last time they got relegated (before this year obviously). I think that was because they claimed they couldn't put a team out in a game because their entire team was ill and the match didn't happen. Or something.
I guess that's probably a bit worse than what Palace have done. But yes, a points deduction next season makes much more sense.
yeah, but deduction so long after the season had ended makes little sense ... and does not hurt the offending club in any way ... at least in this instance
I thought if you broke the rules you were punished. They got fined £20,000 of which £15,000 is suspended for a season and the one point deduction doesn't alter their final league placing...so where's the punishment?

Put yourself in Sheff United's shoes. There may a slim chance that they have an argument along these lines... Palarse played them with an illegible player. That would normally mean they (the opponents of the infringing team) would be awarded a 2-0 win. A win's worth three points. Add three points to Sheff United's total and, hey presto! they finish third and gain automatic promotion. So that's suddenly a tasty little £60m claim they have against our friends from Croydon.
Oxford United (I think) played a wrong-un in 1 game, got 3 points deducted & missed out on the conference play-offs.....
Palace 1 point AFTER the seasons finished......

Sorry, I meant second. They finished with 80 and a plus 25 GD. Birmingham were second with 83 and plus 17. So, three more points and Sheff Utd would have gone up in second place.
Sheffield U got a point for a 0-0 draw, so giving them a win would only increase their points total by 2, still leaving them in third place and playing in the play-offs.
Palace should have been given a three point deduction from next season and with a 50k fine (not suspended) plus Simon Jordan should have been put in the stocks for 24 hours for being an orange turd.

Take the point off for next season would have been the logical answer............ surely.
