I am usually in the loyal optimist camp on here but today the dread has really set in. I can see this takeover dragging on into next week and then the next before they finally cut off negotiations, leaving us in the poo.
But although the board have made a serious of mistakes leading us to where we are now, they have put years and a great deal of their own money into this club. Which initially put us where a lot of you believe we have a god given right to still be. It is not their fault that none has actually got their money out instead of trying to get us for nothing
There's been a bit of tittle tattle that this week would be the deadline...heard it from two or three sources....nothing more than anyone else and I honestly took it all with as big a pinch of salt as the rest of you would have...but if nothing happens this week(which now looks likely), then I'd say I'm more dissapointed than actually panicking.
Not panicking, not even "worried".
Just v.pi**ed off with the lack of any information coming out of the club.
Just sent an e-mail to Stephen Kavanagh asking whats going on.........
Won't hold my breath waiting for a reply.
As others said. Past panic, too old to be overly bothered to panic, I would imagine that most cafc panic people are also panicked about swine flu, SARS, chicken flu, AIDS, global warming/climate change etc etc etc. Seen it all before and what will be will be. Cafc will still be going in some form or other, but not expecting any miracles and it is a calm place to be.
panacking big time! seeing all the clubs round us signings good players for this league wheras we are only losing players by the looks of things. Norwich signed Whaley from Preston and are close to getting Grant Holt ffs!
If Fortune goes, then we are in the situation when basey/mambo/youga,semedo/llera will have to form the central defence, and then stop the other lot from scoring(many)...I would say that's possible with hard work, good coaching, improved technique, a bit of experience, and a little luck. I like Fortune, but if he goes, then other footballers should see it as their chance. Don't panic any more than usual because of the Fortune/contract thing.
[cite]Posted By: randy andy[/cite]This is ridiculous. How many on here have bought a house? How long did it take from offer to moving in? Last time I did it, it took the best part of 5 months, and that was for a simple house with a small mortgage. Yet everybody here expects the sale of a multi-million pound business to just happen overnight.
You'll point to other clubs, not realising that there were months of behind the scenes work done, with accompanying rumours, and that we simply didn't see them because they weren't about our club.
So, if you're panicking, then your seriously over-reacting, It's just a football club, and complicated business deals take a lot of time to sort out.
If my memory serves me correctly the new owners of Southampton wrapped the deal up in less than a week following the collapse of the Le Tessier consortium offer, they also sacked one manager and appointed a new one within 48 hours of the take over.
[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]You could panic or youcould take some action.
Your choice but I know which is usually the most beneficial (and it ain't panicking)
Are u encouraging violence Henry???
(Just thought i'd go along with the over exaggeration theme of this thread)
Dear Robin,
Hope you don't mind me writing, its just that there's more than one thing I
need to ask you. If you're so anti-fashion, why not wear flares, instead of
dressing down all the same. Its just that looking like that I can express
my dissatisfaction.
Dear Robin,
Let me explain, though you'd never see in a million years. Keep quoting
Cabaret, Berlin, Burroughs, J.G. Ballard, Duchamp, Beauvoir, Kerouac,
Kierkegaard, Michael Rennie. I dont believe you really like Frank Sinatra.
Dear Robin,
You're always so happy, how the hell do you get your inspiration? You're
like a dumb patriot. If you're supposed to be so angry, why don't you fight
and let me benefit from your right? Don't you know the only way to change
things is to shoot men who arrange things,
Dear Robin,
I would explain but you'd never see in a million years. Well, you've made
your rules, but we don't know that game, perhaps I'd listen to your records
but your logics far too lame and I'd only waste three valuable minutes of
my life with your insincerity.
You see Robin, I'm just searching for the young soul rebels, and I cant
find them anywhere. Where have you hidden them?

Maybe you should welcome the new soul vision.
Errr, quite!!
'tis a great song Henry. I have a vivid memory of playing it on the jukebox in "The Victoria" before a Charlton game back in '79 (?).
Perhaps the following would be more apt in the context of out club:-
The crowd they all hailed you and chanted your name
But they never knew like we knew
Me and you we're the same
And now you're all over your song is so tame
You fed me and bred me
I'll remember your name

or maybe this one!
Pure, this must be, it has to be. Pure, let's make this pure, (Do you mean it?) Yes I do, (Then let's sing it) Certainly, but First bare your hearts and cleanse your souls (And then?) Let's try and make this precious, like this. Let's make this precious. We're striving over here (Ever nearer?) I think so (Visions clearer) of course, of course. But still we must forsake all to win (All temptation?) everything (for salvation?) now you're talking Then let this apply to all we do (And then?) Our striving will guide us And somehow I think that we'll win.
[cite]Posted By: Goonerhater[/cite]bet the same peeps who was chuffed with our stunning win over Crawley now say"well it was just a friendly" re barnet.
cant see anyway that its not going to be another season of humiliation and struggle. Only differance is we are in the 3rd level.

Who was chuffed? I know I just said we did ok and others said similar things. I don't think anyone claimed it was a great performance and actually meant anything.

Good choice, Chablis.
At least it sounds hopeful.
