Don't care what you think of me. I don't deny we have a large number of pricks that follow us about. I've no doubt some of the older mob (...those that should know better) will be out for the Charlton game because they remember a rivalry that goes back that far. I wont say there wont be any trouble AT ALL, but not to the apocolyptic proportions that some of you seem to think. You would almost certainly deny, however, that there would be an element of Charlton out looking for a bit of agro too. Cut form the same cloth - it's not a Millwall/Charlton thing. It's an SE London thing. I think 'certain' people on this board can't wait for it to kick off, if indeed it does kick off, because that's what they live for.
But lets also get something else right. I - the Spanner - am the one trying to play it down, and give it the respect/coverage, etc that sort of behaviour deserves. It's YOU lot that keep mentioning aggro, like you're willing it on almost.
Enjoy the rivalry - it's been a while. If it bothers you that much, get in your tower and wait for it to blow over.
[cite]Posted By: LenGlover[/cite]Why has this thread been sunk?
Because i'm fed up with threads being hijacked talking about trouble / potential trouble. Its complete scaremongering that does nothing but a. build it up, and b. actually give the bullying scumbags exactly what they want. GH's stories are 100% true, but they also come from a time when Charlton would take the North Bank at Highbury, terrace fights with Walsall would see people stabbed, and Chelsea taking the Covered End and trying to set it on fire. None of this is likely to happen today. Football has moved on, as has policing, CCTV and punishments.
Lets get one thing straight about the Millwall game. At The Valley there will be 3,000 of them that will be sold to Millwall ST and members only, not the once a season day trippers. No tickets will be sold in home areas to anyone who hasn't got a proven buying history on the clubs database. It will also be as policed, if not more than the Palace games, and we all know from those you can't fart within a mile of the ground without half a dozen of the Met's finest jumping on you. Local pubs will either be closed, or be members / home ticket only.
The New Den has now changed since the last time we were there, and there is a walkway that leads direct from the away section to the platform of the station.
I'm sure there will be some incident at the Millwall games, but the liklihood it will be in the immediate vaccinity of the ground, and see normal fans caught up, are increasingly marginal. And all this constant talk about it does nothing that spreads a fear that does not, and should not be there.

Job done.
