I played at the Valley today

edited May 2009 in General Charlton
Ridiculously huge pitch. Not being that technically skilled, and not very big, I rely on the fact that I'm very fast and have high fitness levels, but playing on the wing there, I was almost having cardiac arrest by the time the ref blew for 45.

Still we were treated very well, the ref provided was excellent. Although they had a game on afterwards we weren't rushed or given any hassle to get off the pitch when we decided a penalty shootout was neccesary despite a 3-1 scoreline. And for the first time this season, I could climb into the shower safe in the knowledge that the shower was going to be warm, so long as we haven't stopped paying the water bills due to our lowly financial state.

Also some course the club were doing with a group of kids gave us a nice crowd sitting in the covered end. A thoroughly enjoyable day and I would recommend it to anyone.

    Omar Pouso, welcome back. ;-)
  • Bloody big pitch ain't it!
  • When you play that pitch it reminds you just how small a standard 11 a side pitch is!

Just imagine some of the other pitches that are bigger than the valley ;o)
  • At College we play on a pitch about the size of The Valley, I'm almost dying after 20mins of playing, let alone 2 hours like I have done before
