Weaver's out of contract as is Ambrose, we'll release both of them. Zheng and Fortune we might try and find a way of keeping them, Zheng very unlikely though I'd imagine.
I'd want more than that for Bailey, we paid around £750k once all the clauses are paid up (though one is probably for promotion...)
We have to pay the festering sore Christensen and now we have plummeted another division the useless parasite might be capable of playing.
I suspect that Sam will go to free up wages and perhaps the fee necessary to pay his parent club.
I emphasise this is NOT what I want but as I said above any player we get offered a fee for will go especially if he is a higher earner which Lloyd may well be now relatively speaking.

To be fair to him it's not his fault we offered him ridiculous wages for a player that was nothing more than a potential first teamer.
I also think it's more of a case we don't want to pay £100k or whatever it is for him to make his debut, than him being nowhere near good enough. I'm sure if he was definitely good enough we'd pay it (well he would have played by now), but he's probably not as far off as it's made out.

How far do you think that will be taken? I know what you mean, but surely wouldn't accept bids of say £500k for Sam or Racon, for example?
I don't know to be honest but it will be dependent on firstly how desperate we are to cut overheads and secondly get some cash in.
If we are really desperate then we might accept the prices you quote.
I accept that it is not Christensen's fault but it galls me that we are unable to offload somebody so obviously surplus to requirements yet good, honest, hardworking people are sacked through no fault of their own.
People can call me a turncoat but if someone offered money for Sam I'd grab it. I also, if he was still in our squad, would want him always on our team sheet as at least he offers pace and width occasionally. Apart from his improved assists though a whole big reason for keeping him is his potential, but that's a massive reason I'd let him go as he's all potential. He is ultimately another player in our squad who relies on others to set the tempo or take the intiative.
Since we've been relegated he's amazed me mainly at how he's started to knuckle down and help his full back, something Thomas, Ambrose and Bouazza were a totally negative influence on the side; as every goal they scored/assisted was wiped away by the multiple goals we let in where they made no input at all. He is important to us but having a player with hugely less skill but the work rate of Bailey and who understands playing percentage ball in shocking matches would be a vast improvement.
And as for Sam if he went to play for someone like Warnock who had strikers that gambled and bolloxed wingers who didn't look for them, Sam would improve his game no end. Sam will never be a prem player, he just doesn't have the will or game intelligence, but with the right manager he could be a factor in a play off chasing champ team.
I know what you mean, but I wouldn't want a Nicky Bailey on each wing. It sounds great having that kind of work rate but we'd become a lot more predictable having too many similar players. We'd lose a game or two and come out saying we need to get a winger in. Sam doesn't give away the ball any more than Bailey does, in fact Bailey is far more likely to try and play a long ball across the pitch and give it away.
As I said it's easy to say Sam doesn't do this, can't offer that, but we'll do very well to replace him with someone just as good or someone more effective.

That's the bottom line. No one in our squad is perfect, but any new signings will have at least one fairly major flaw in their game - that's the reality of being a League 1 club. THe squad needs trimming a bit, but, where possible we may as well stick with the devil we know, imo, unless we're offered silly money or the player simply must be sold because their wages are too high for them to be retained.
Had a palace lad at work banging on about them getting two of our players early June, one of them could be Sam, I told him it is unlikely looking at the other clubs linked. What is it with Charlton and Palace swapping so many players at the moment?
Sorry but I really don't believe Premier League Clubs are looking at Sam when they have all the money to look for bigger and better players elsewhere. Sam isn't a PL player. Average CCC one at best. But I'd still like him to be in a Charlton shirt next season.
Sam Lloyd has not impressed to premiership standard of late though I was pleasantly surprised while he played under Les Reed in his brief period in charge. Showed good potential, that was sadly never fully realised.
''I was out on Thurday night in Maidstone and really randomly saw Lloyd Sam, Chris Dickson and...Anton Ferdinand in Liquid there. I introduced myself and talked in quite some detail about CAFC with Lloyd (the only 1 who seemed not to care for the fat heffers in the club much and instead opted to share a bottle of Moet with me....nice chap!). I asked him if he could say anything about his future and his response was "It depends if the boss wants me, u never know what the club want to do" - This led me to 2 thoughts.
1) Who is 'the boss' - I hope he doesn't mean Parky (I didn't want to go there!)and
2) It seems even the players dont know who/if they will be sold to raise funds.
I've read reports of Newcastle interest since Thursday, but from his genuine reactions and the fact he kept saying "I can't believe we're in League 1" I would rubbish those. He's obviously at the top end of the wage bill so the the club may wish to cash in/save wage bill.
Lovely chap and really felt genuinely sorry for the fans. "I wish I could've done more this season" was a comment I remember.
On another note, Dicko said he wanted to stay, is a quality dancer and Anton Ferdinand as i expected is an arrogant *****!''

He's still developing, it's often forgotten that he only has two full seasons of experience in the first team, plus a few short loan spells.
Would be a bit of a strange signing like BRE said, but then again he'd only be a squad player and probably get more time and space on the ball. He won't be seen as one of the main threats in the same way he is for us, and playing with better players would help him, especially strikers.

Still developing FFS!!!....He'll be 26 in a few months time!!!
Sounds like Lisbie all over again...we used to say that about him until the penny dropped and we realised how old he was!

I know how old he is, I'm usually one of the ones that has to point it out, and he'll be 25, not 26.
I still say he is developing. I don't mean he is going to become a much better player, but small improvements that aren't always noticed.
As I said before he's only had 2 full seasons in any first team, he's catching up on other players and learning from it.
Players don't usually reach their peak until their late 20s, probably a bit older for more defensive players and goalkeepers. Are you saying in say 3 years time, assuming he hasn't lost his pace, he won't be a slightly better player?

Charlton winger Lloyd Sam could be set for a move to the Premier League - with Stoke, Wigan and Newcastle interested.
Paddy Mac was one of their better players last season.

That's a good day to have a birthday. Knew there was a reason I liked him....;-)

So yes he probably is still developing, certainly in terms of nous and experience.
