Parkinson to Reading

edited May 2009 in General Charlton
Reading legend, they need a new manager, I'm pretty sure their fans would like it.

Come on Madjeski, get your wallet out and pay us some compensation and he's all yours :-)

  • Pards and Parky... more likely Curbs as he missed out on ipswich.

I'd drive him there myself if they want him back. Unfortunatley on a lot of polls on local papers and fans sites he is well down the pecking order.

How do you figure that he 'missed out' on Ipswich...was he ever in the frame and if he was, was he interested anyway?

what has Sheepshanks got to do with it ? I'm sure Marcus Evans would have decided who Ipswich's next manager would be.
  • But Curbishley has openly admitted he'd only join a Premier League club?

Also he hasn't settled his compensation package with West Ham

So how could he manage Ipswich?

The west ham thing wouldn't prevent him form taking either the Ipswich or Reading job, if they had been/were to be offered.

They would - he'll be claiming loss of earnings & taking a new job severely cocks this up.

  • he'd be covered for loss of earnings up to his first days employment with Ips/reading surely
  • good call
  • On Five Live this morning the guy who was Reading's captain when Coppell started suggested that needed someone like Pardew or P
    arkinson.
  • Also, although I know nothing about the law in the UK, in Canada when advancing a claim for loss of income for constructive dismissal, you have an obligation to show that you are taking reasonable steps to secure substitute employment. I would think that it would be in his interest to be able to show that he'd at least been trying to mitigate his damages by seeking a new job, no?

The above does not constitute legal advice...etc, etc...

Can't see Parkinson or Pardew taking the Reading job. Parkinson's not a Championship calibre manager, not done well with us or Hull at this level and Pardew left on bad terms when he went to West Ham.

I reckon they'll go for Brendan Rogers. They'll have to trim there squad, players like Doyle and Hunt will go for a much smaller fee than they would of got when first relegated, and Rogers could manage the younger players coming through. Plus he's ex - Reading

Now Seth, you know they can't afford the geordie smiler as well ;-)
  • This thread sounds like wishful thinking!
  • A Reading fan on SSN interviewed was asking for PP as the next boss.

  • If that was a possibility i would advise parky to go - Don't get me wrong i like him but he is not who we need but what we can afford.
  • is he still here?
