It just isn't our season is it?

edited December 2006 in General Charlton
In the bottom three with a five point gap between us and safety, and what does the fixture computer send our way next? The tantalising opportunity to pull the 4th from bottom team into the mire with us, and close the gap on the teams around us, as two of them are away to top 4 teams, and two of them are playing each other.

Except it's an away game.
250 miles away.
On the Saturday before Christmas.
The only thing that'd make it less of a draw for away fans was if it was a 5:15 kick off, so the chances of our support generating enough of an atmosphere to lift a demoralised team to a match-winning performance are only marginally greater than zero.

I'm trying to retain some degree of positivity, because otherwise the next 4 1/2 months are going to be utterly miserable, but sometimes it really does feel like circumstances are conspiring against us.

  • Saturday will be our lowest turnout for many a year.

I really want to go and get behind them because this is undoubtedly a must not lose game but ive been doing it all season with no reward for my money.

Not sure if I can do 10 hrs in a car with a hangover for another defeat.
  • Lets just hope the team turn up!
  • one of 1905's mate spoke to the ticket office oin thursday when buying boro tickets. We had sold 30 then.
  • the team is abysmal and our away following(in numbers) is worse...anyone who goes up to boro should be knighted or declared insane
  • 30 tickets?!

    I know i shouldnt laugh...
  • no one moaning about ticket stubs and priority now....30 now that is non-league!!
  • to be fair though how many would Wigan, Boro, Blackburn even Fulham bring to ours two days before Christmas?
  • i would say more than 30... hpefully there wa sa rush for them on saturday?? :-)

shameful... definitely be a few chants of "did you come in taxi".

should we really be getting up there to support them??
  • Maybe they'll play better with none of us there
  • they can't play any worse can they?

  • I think that every week mortimer then I come into work and say the guys here "that's the worst "Charlton" performance I have ever seen"

    It has to end sometime
  • fingers crossed WSS , the improvement starts with just a 1 goal defeat at boro next week ;-)
  • Iv decided i'm going. Dont want to but this club of ours needs every supporter they can get up there.
  • the men in white coats are on their way round to you jim.... seriously fair play jim roar em on
  • yeah, hats off to you jim
  • i heard a couple say on Sat they got tickets 91 and 92 when they got theirs in the week...
  • well done that man, hats off.........I know I just couldn't face it - I think even a free ticket, free travel and £50 in my pocket for the inconvenience couldn't convince me to go

i can't afford it, but i also can't face it either.

We'll have between 250 - 400 there, and every single one of them deserves a medal, or some form or priority to something else.
  • I still reckon I'll go, just like I still reckon I'll go tomorrow night.

Sometimes I wish I had the ability to not care.
  • the thought did cross my mind this morning that i feel i should go. if people i know felt the same way i'd be more inclined to go if i had someone to go with, but i also have a bit of me saying "YOU MUG" which makes me feel like i know whats going to happen.
