I shall start as best I can.
Positive reasons are:
Clean slate with players, old grudges out, a fresh chance for players to impress on merit.
Clean start with fans (unless you're Dowie or Pardew of course!)
Likely to be eager to achieve and succeed.
Regarding above, likely to be hard working in scouting, and watching opponents.
Chance to construct a contract reflecting the changing times.
Fresh ideas regarding training.
Fresh ideas regarding playing matches.
A fresh network of knowledge and contacts.
That'll do for now, please add more if you can think of any.

I agree totally. I would add that the applicant must have a track record of being able to make silk from the sow's ear, and try and squeeze everything possible out of the players at his disposal, command respect and make us a little less nice and cuddly, give us an aura of grittiness and being bloody hard to beat.
PIcked up by Valley Express.
Thats on another thread.
I don't think anyone can doubt PP's desire to do well or his desire to get the job full time and there's nothing to say anyone else will work harder. He said the other day they've been off all over the place scouting players.
Didn't his contract remain the same as his one as an assistant, so bringing someone else in won't necessarily be cheaper. Plus the cost of paying him off.
