Same situation for many other hardworking, "Charlton" staff.

Good luck and thanks to everyone for all unseen work that goes on.
  • sad times good luck to him
  • One way or another, Steve has been part of the club for best part of 25 years.
    He'll be missed.

Best wishes for the future, Steve.
  • Bugger bugger bugger... an Addick through and through..... no one is safe it would seem!
  • thats awful, he took the time out to answer an email i sent the other week and thanked us all for our support.. its a real shame i have met him a few times and he is a top bloke, hopefully if a take over does go through which is looking more un likely as the days pass they may be able to re hire some of the 30.
  • Thats a real shame....Steve is part of the foundations....very sad, but the players have an awful lot to answer for....
  • Agree with all of that. Good luck to him.
  • He's answered the odd email I've sent too - all the best, Steve, and everyone else directly affected. Sad times indeed.

    one of the good guys.

Remember he got the Llanera deal that was, at the time, 7th biggest in the Prem and JD Sports that was 4th in the CCC. If only the team had done that well

Don't want to say too much as there will be another 24 or so going and personally I don't want to single out Suthers above any of them and I doubt he would either.

  • its all bowlocks I think.

who's going to do all the work of the 24 or so going? or were those going actually surplus because they didnt actually do any work. unlikely.

Like to be a fly on the wall in those offices next season.
  • Good luck to him and thanks Steve, I've met him a few times and part of the growth of the club over the years has been down to the work put in by people like him. Generally they are only missed once they are gone.
  • Sick about that, Steve has been a friend for twenty years, and Charlton through and through.

That's very sad, always had time for Steve, but as Henry said, another 24 will go the same way this week and I feel for them as much
  • Best of luck Steve. He is a good Charlton man.
  • Very sad for a true Addick through and through (and I guess so are the other 24). Those players who failed to play for their shirts in recent seasons, plus managers who thought they were above the club should hang their heads in shame at this and other departures. Steve if your reading this, chin up mate. We know the contribution and dedication you and your colleagues have given to the club we all love. I hope things work out for you for the future,
  • Terrible news ...

He sorted out tickets fro me and my football team at Selhurst when I was about 10 he got us tickets for about 15 of us.....

Used to know my dad very well.....

    bad sign...

    Christ!!

Where are the investors... where is our slice of luck....

lets hope that we finally, finally start to plateau and start to go in the right direction again... I will take staying up right now...
  • Very sad news.

Steve, thanks for everything you have done and hopefully things will change around and you will be back.
  • Know him well, very sad indeed, charlton through and through....wish him well.
  • I remember drinking with Steve in the Valley Club after the 89 clean up on that Sunday afternoon, top fella, and always up for a bit of banter, good luck Steve, I'm sure a man of your talents and football admin experience wont be out of work long.

You all moaned when you got the Carbrini sponsors last season... well we were lucky to get that with Steve. What we going to have next season??

Good luck Steve. Hopefully next time i bump into him in the Robin Hood he will be firmly ensconced in a fab new job.
  • First met Steve back in the Selhurst days when my friends dad was commercial manager for the Woolwich. Sometimes used to share a car over to Selhurst and enjoyed listening to the gossip.

More recently enjoyed a couple of beers with Steve at a Demelza function. Steve gave a powerpoint presentation Iain Dowie would have been impressed with. So much so, that the next speaker (a German from Deutsche Borse) actually thought that Steve was the Charlton Manager !

Whether Steve would have done better than 4 wins in 28 i'm not sure, but i know he is popular amongst staff and fans, and has dedicated a lot of years to our club.

    Good luck Steve.
  • I first met Steve in the Selhurst years - just before he left to work for the football league.
  • Sad news - met him a few years back and he struck me as a good man. Hope he finds a new berth soon.
