Whensoever two or more Charlton fans gather together, you will get at least three different views as to what’s gone wrong.
What I want to see next season is three things. 1. The right decisions being made. 2. Promotion. 3. The club and the fans pulling together. And it’s the third point that is most important.
We all have views on a number of subjects. Do we need a new manager? Can we afford to get rid of our current one? Can we afford to invest in new players? Should the youngsters be thrown in? Are we doing enough to secure promotion at the first attempt? Do we need a new board? Or new owners? Can we raise funds by a new placement? How many decisions still need to be made? Will the club – the whole club – make enough, tough, right decisions to ensure - to guarantee - promotion?
I bet they get it right.
What’s most important is that we all pull together. And the best way for that to happen is for the club’s owners – whoever they will be eventually – making the right decisions. And the best way to measure whether that happens is by the League One table next season. If we’re in a promotion position, the club’s achieved its target. If not, not.
So what’s the guarantee? As soon as the season is over, I am going to place a bet. On Charlton. To win League One. And, one year from now, if the club’s made the right decisions, we’ll have won the league. I’ll pick up a tidy profit. And donate it to Charlton. £100 at say, 10/1. That’s a thousand quid to whoever owns Charlton at that time to say, thank you, well done and carry on. And for the whole of that season - which could be the toughest season in a generation - the club is going to get my whole-hearted support. My £100 says to Charlton "you have my trust and my support - don't waste it".
It’s worth risking £100 to see Charlton get promoted for the second time this century.
Anyone else like the idea? Anyone else want to join in?

Realistically though - we never do things the easy way so I am plumping for Play-offs at best
OK,for you the rules are different. When you're properly sorted with a new role, chuck something out of your first pay packet on Charlton to win the play-offs.
And if we do, I'll meet you at Wembley and you can buy me a beer, because I'll be £100 down!
Any amount works. Just to show you're in; you support the club; and to tell 'em well done when we're up again.
