I went despite thinking that the whole event was a mistake. I changed my mind as it was genuinely good to see the likes of Nicky Bailey and Jongo getting their awards. I wouldn't have done the Palace awards but that's another matter. There wasn't anything controverial at all that i heard. The players were obviously worried about what kind of reception they would get and Parky has had a really difficult time and it's clearly taken its toll. Face to face he is very different and I just really like the man and the players are very much behind him. Overall I felt there was a choice, you could carry on slating the bad things or you could acknowledge where there had been good. I was very pleased for Nicky and Jonjo whilst being very upset for Yassin. It somehow encapsulated the best and worst of our club.

Some general themes seemed to emerge from the players, they all seemed to think that whilst results hadn't improved, their performances and attitude had. They reckoned that the sports scientist was doing well and their fitness had improved. They felt that if they'd had the team we've got now at the start of the season then things would have been very different. Nicky Bailey however said that life in the league was going to be tough and no-one should under-estimate that. He felt that the standard of players was higher than people think. That really cheered me up!

That's what I've felt its looked like when watching us recently. Good to hear he hasn't lost the dressing room as has been suggested.

Kind of what you expect the players to say. Maybe they can see the weaknesses in the squad but can't admit it. Or they really have no idea nad can't understand why Kandol, Burton and Dickson etc can't score.
Sorry, nothing has happened as such. Yassin is obviously going to leave. He has realised that his manner of approaching things hasn't helped his cause but feels he has learnt a lot. He just wanted to play football but got more and more frustrated when he was passed over. He showed the frustration in inappropriate ways and has burnt his boat, but IMO the club failed him in that he was socially isolated and left out in the cold. Racon says something similar, he was stuck by himself in the Marriott hotel. We don't seem to have a system in place that recognises the social difficulties and helps players through the difficult times. Yassin's really a great guy, he's had a shit time, given some shit out in return but it need not have been that way. We all lost out.
Thought overall it wasn't a bad evening; Didn't really know what to expect.
Spoke to Jon Fortune and I think he enjoyed recieving the "PalaceMedal".
Parkinson seemed genuine enough; even if in his 3 minute speech he said all the "right" things.
Also spoke to Lloyd Sam and told him to beat more players and stop hitting the 1st defender with his crossing. He said he should have hit the Hull defender harder !!

That's what I thought, always seemed like his supposed attitude problem was down to frustration. Five loanee right backs in 2 seasons is going to frustrate any young player that has come in thinking he's got a good chance to play regularly. Hope he does well wherever he ends up. Can see him going back to France.
maybe the loanees came in because he kept making mistakes, not holding his hands up to them and was showing a poor attitude.
Maybe it was 6 of one, half a dozen of the other but other foreign players such as Racon, Semedo and Youga (two of whom are French like Yassin) seems to have settled OK and if Kinsella says a player has a bad attitude then I believe him.
Why is everyone taking the Palace medal thing so seriously, it was just the supporter’s clubs idea to try and break the ice as they were worried the players would be lynched.
Ok it is a bit cheesy but there are more things to be embarrassed about this season then that.
The Palace medals thing is embaressing - as is the fact that Hudson was voted our 3rd best player of the year. What were those people who voted for him thinking?

The way he plays and the sort of mistakes he makes mean he looks more solid than he actually is.

Didn't he get injured in his seconf or third game (Stoke away)? I think that was what started the RB loanee merry-go-round & he never managed to make it back into the squad properly from there.
Also, as has been said before, he's a fairly strict Muslim, so there could've been issues on a socialising front - ie. he's not exactly going to be going out on the lash with the other youngsters...
Am I right in thinking that Bailey has won Player of the Year for the past 3 seasons at 3 different clubs - wonder how many other players have done that?

Yeah and then later on Pardew tried to force us into the top 2 by signing several players on loan, Halford being one of them.

Thats nice to hear from a player, but I seriously doubt he will be here next season.
