Derby may face a defensive headache as they aim for the win that would guarantee their Championship survival at home to doomed Charlton.
Centre-half Andy Todd was forced off with a tight hamstring in the final 10 minutes of the midweek home defeat to Reading.
And with Jordan Stewart still out, while Dean Leacock and Jay McEveley are sidelined until the summer, manager Nigel Clough will be eager for Todd to recover in time.
Top scorer Rob Hulse also came off against Reading after sustaining a cut to his head but the 17-goal striker is expected to play.
The Rams are five points clear of third-bottom Norwich with two games remaining while Charlton's fate has already been sealed.
Stranded
The Addicks will finish stranded at the bottom of the Championship, unless Southampton climb out of the bottom three and their 10-point deduction for going into administration is activated.
Midfielder Darren Ambrose (thigh) remains an injury doubt after missing the last two games and is unlikely to return at Pride Park.
Teenage playmaker Jonjo Shelvey has scored in the last two outings and although he came off late in Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Cardiff with a sore shoulder, he is expected to remain in the starting line-up.
Tresor Kandol returned off the bench in midweek following an illness and could start up front in place of Deon Burton.
Defender Jonathan Fortune (Achilles), midfielder Jose Semedo (ankle) and striker Andy Gray (pelvis) are still sidelined.

Same as last Tuesday, bench of Randolph, Solly, Spring, Wagstaff and Kandol.
Edit: Just checked, they brought him back from his loan, straight into the team.
No real surprise
Varns scored twice for Sheff Wed last week, but that was the final match of his loan starting in January (max 93 days).
So League rules mean he couldn't have played for Sheff W, even if he and they wanted him too.
And scoring 2 goals in his last match, means he's a form striker ..... so Derby naturally put him straight into the team.
Varney is a familiar face in the home line-up, and will start on the right hand side,'
Charlton: Elliot; Butterfield, Youga, Hudson, Ward; Sam, Racon, Zheng, Shelvey, Bailey; Burton.
Subs: Randolph, Solly, Spring, Wagstaff, Kandol.
Derby: Bywater; Connolly, Stewart, Nyatanga, Albrechsten; Varney, Savage, Bannon, Teale; Commons, Hulse.
Subs: Carroll, Eustace, Sterjovski, Pearson, Villa.
Referee: F Graham
Parky complimented Tuna's progress and performance against Blackpool, but said he's not quite there yet but definitely got the potential. The last 2 games were a taster to ecourage him (or words to that effect).
Also look at the bench:
He's got Randolph, Solly and Waggy there, that's not much experience - so to add Tuna, might be a bit reckless.
Perfectly understand ensuring he's got a bit of experience and maturity in Spring and Kandol.
All about balance, I suppose.
Not really a surprise though, hopefully Solly comes on and gets to start against Norwich. Could have had Tuna in place of Wagstaff, but he's said Wagstaff has also played well recently.
I think he doesn't want more than a couple of youngsters on the bench in case any one gets injured. If Burton gets injured early on it would be a lot to ask of Tuna to play up front on his own for most of the match.
and before anyone jumps down my throat and says it means something to derby then i say i dont give a toss about where derby are in the league but i do care about players that belong to us and our yoof and the poor management of them.

I know what you mean, but to be fair there's no one who can come in for Ward, not even out of the youth players, none of them are ready yet. Up front Burton is more likely to be here next season than Kandol, Dickson and Tuna can't play up front on their own and we're not going to see them start together. Then there's Todorov who's clearly going anyway.
That said I'd have liked to have seen Solly involved a few games ago for Butterfield, and Arter on the bench and give him a few run outs. If he did well he could have then started a game.
Been like it on here a lot recently. Was actually quite dissapointed you hadnt gone up!
