[cite]Posted By: uncle[/cite]I think Jonjo will do much more with his career than bowyer and be a much better player. But then again i would
I agree with you, partly because I don't think Jon Jo will be smashing up McDonalds and getting it street fights, but at 17 I think Bowyer impressed more IMHO.
OK, he was playing in a much better side but it was the same level.
Bow did play for England. He gained one full cap against Portugal in a friendly at Villa Park some years ago whilst he was at Leeds. Always liked Bow as a player. One of the best young players this club has produced.

Found out again.... What I should have said is that Jonjo will hold down an England place unlike Bowyer.
Surprised nobody commented on Bowyer slagging us off in the press yesterday.
No he didn't. The headline in the paper I read stated Bowyer raps Addicks. The article went to say that Bow felt the club went on the slide once Curbs left, which is true and said that he would love us to stay up but does not think it would happen. At no point during the article did he "slag off" the club. Unless of course you read a different piece in the papers which I missed.
Bowyer: e're look Jon Im thinking of trying out for the GB Olympic power walking team. What do ya reckon?
Jon Jo: Yeah makes you look a bit of a ponse though Lee.... Personally, Im gonna give the hop- scotch a bash as I heard it'll be our strongest event in 2012.
[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]My brother asked me during the game yestersday
"Shelvey at 17 or Bowyer at 17?"
Heresy maybe but I think Bowyer albeit that Jon Jo is still younger than Bowyer when he was playing regularly.
This is an interesting question. I thought Bowyer was a great prospect when he was with us in the mid 90's and I haven't seen Shelvey enough to comment but I think this would be an interesting question to revisit come next Jan when JonJo is still 17 and we are 5 months into next season.

Other way around for me, I only started watching Charlton around the time Bowyer had come through, actually can't remember if I saw him play or not in a Charlton shirt.
Different players though, they could play together rather than taking up the same role in the team. Same with Parker and Shelvey.
Bowyer: As Paul Simon famously sung slow down you move too fast.....
As to the best of the two at the same age that is a toughie.
Based on what he did at CHARLTON Bowyer has more of an eye for goal than Jonjo has shown to date but in my view Jonjo offers more as an all round player. He gets around the field at least as well if not better than Bowyer did and picks a pass as well if not better. He is also effective at taking set pieces which I don't remember Bowyer being.
Bowyer had better players around him than the present mob which enabled him to look good doing what he did best, getting into the box and scoring from midfield.
If I had a 17 /18 year old Bowyer and the present day Jonjo to choose from and I was only allowed one of them I'd take Jonjo.
Jonjo is much bigger than the young Bowyer and I recall the Bow whilst doing well had a few games where he was targetted and kicked out of the game, don't think that will happen to Jonjo. I reckon that Jonjo will develop further than Bow and willget that move to Liverpoolor Arsenal

Haven't seen as much of Shelvey as i should but Bowyer was a fabulous talent and i'd have probably given the same answer.
Bowyer: "How the fcuk am I supposed to keep up with that?"

By saying what exactly?
